I hope I am posting correctly. I'm too used to other recreational forums that I'm on, so if this is in the wrong area, please delete or move. Thanks.
So, I have been prepping for about 3 years and suspect I'll be bugging in during a SHTF scenario. I have some preps in case I need to leave with my family, but I think it would be best to stay put.
Here is an idea of what I have done so far:
I live on a well and have a bison hand pump as back-up
I have a wood burning stove and wood for one season.
I'm in the process of installing 10Kw solar panels on my roof.
I am on geothermal heating and cooling. wood/solar would assist in back-up
I have built two faraday cages for batteries, walkie-talkies, wind-up emergency radios, etc. It tested well using a cranked radio
I have started to garden and learned how to save seeds.
I have about 6 months food supply. Buckets with gamma lids, oxygen absorbers, etc.
I keep a 3 day get home bag in my truck. I used to keep a folding bike in the back as well - I took it out.
Thermal imaging camera to keep an eye out at night, if need be.
I have lots of hard copy literature in case the internet can't be accessed (anything from setting up snares to raising snails).
Things on the horizon:
I can't get the wife on board with keeping guns at the house, but I do have some at my sister's.
I'm thinking of getting a crossbow.
Solar oven
I'm a 10km hike from town, but do have about 6 neighbours. I live on 2 acres, but back on to 90 acres (10 of which is used for crops). The rest is loaded with deer and turkey.
I'm certainly missing a few things, but I'll continue to work on it. My main concern is protecting what I have.
