It is very good!! Keep on doing it! I love it! I have these little wooden figures a family member brought to my mom 50 some years ago. They were made in Denmark, I think.

It is Snow White, missing three dwarves. (Their arms have fallen off!).

I like it. It is a start of a figure and then the working on the skill of doing it. I'd bet that there are books or videos that can give guidance, or some guys sitting around somewhere who are always whittling to make something.

I just started carving. I have been making furniture and other wood working stuff for 25 years. My wife is the artist of the family. She paints, draws, throws pottery, makes jewelry, etc. She is good at it all.

Not trying to hijack your thread... thought these might give you ideas. A seal and a dolphin, very simple carvings, not a lot of detail. The guy just got the shape right and sanded them smooth, then oiled them. I bought these many years ago from a little shop that sold works by local artists.

Oh, the dolphin balances on his front fins. Like he's jumping at sea. The seal doesn't.
