where to go when the shtf?

Well my initial thought was just to fortify my home and garden since were not in a village town or on the main road but if things realy did get that bad and had to move ive become alittle bit stuck, but i found a castle with a moat that has water about 20miles away as i cant afford to buy anywhere else i think this could be perfect to defend my family let me no if this is ok or should i come up with another plan? thanks guys

My only thoughts on the castle issue is this..........
How many others will be thinking the same thing?
It does no good to hole up in a place where you were unable to store your supplies.
Be hard for one person to defend a castle from those outside it.
Be harder to defend yourself from others in it with you if you dont know them well.
