find one on craigslist ,,,no paper trail and let the turds find you,,,,,we all know they are not going to go out and ride country roads looking for them
they have this crap going on in Arkansas, buying a new stove is not an option, but this is a very rural state that does not have the funding to to police the rural ares of the state ,,,,,,the zoning at least where I am is UNRESTICTED MEANING I COULD BUILD A HOUSE WITHOUT THE STATE STICKING THEIR NOSE IN MY AFFAIRS,,,,NO PERMITS,,,,,,,,,Both oregon and washington governments monitor craigslist to check if any of their citizens are selling uncertified older wood stoves (this is state big brother not the feds) One way I know they are being sold here is they are selling them as scrap iron or as a decorative piece so they may not be sold under wood stove I think most states don't forbid the resale this is a california north (aka oregon and washington) thing.

Good grief Charlie Brown
I grew up in Oregon and loved it there. But I could see where the state was heading a long time ago, thanks to the invasion from California and the spoiled socialist I-want-everything-for-nothing crowd. I had to leave my home state almost 30 years ago. Best decision I ever made. The Pacific Northwest sucks anymore. Yep. After Tom was about the time the state started going full socilist and became part of California.Last good Governor Oregon had was Tom McCall and that was a long time ago
Back in the late '70's and '80's I was a foreman in a large welding/fabrication shop. Many of the employees, myself included, made wood stoves during our lunch breaks and after work. During a layoff one time I took a job at a wood stove manufacturer too. I didn't think about it until now, maybe I'll build my own wood stove for the house. F#$@ the EPA.The one I put out in the shop post-1988 had these insulated type bricks (not real bricks) with fire resistant insulation behind it, I ripped it all out and put in fire bricks now my sides heat better, the only reason I had to use the fire bricks on the sides is because the damn steel isn't as thick as the old ones pre-1988
Finding an old pre-88 stove is going to cost an arm, leg and possibly your tractor unless you have friends or friends of friends or someone that just cleaning out the barn or old house.
it’s always good to be able to work with your hands and tools, weather to fabricate something or just modify and repair something. You never know when the luxury of just going to the store and buying things may not be so easily available.Back in the late '70's and '80's I was a foreman in a large welding/fabrication shop.
