You have an old spool laying around the backyard?

There were five of us sitting around a spool one late June or early July evening. We had a pile of bottle rockets laying on the spool that looked like a game of pick-up-sticks. We'd grab a rocket, hold it lightly, light the rocket, and point it skyward. Some wayward sparks set off a rocket on the table. That rocket set off another and that another. Rockets were flying off horizontally in all directions. I grabbed the current one with a lit fuse and tossed it into the air, breaking the chain. I'd guess that over a dozen bottle rockets went off before we were able to react. Each rocket went between two people, nobody was hit or hurt. What a rush. Love spools.

A long ago boyfriend put carpeting on the support and top surface and edge of the bottom. Laid linoleum on most of the top surface, edged it with carpet. It was a shorter spool and he used it for a table in the living room.

I like repurposing things like that. It takes creativity and reuses materials. When I look at Pinterest, repurposing things is one of the things I like to look at.
We go by the electric company yard whenever we need a new yard table. They give them away!
Long ago, I went to a bar that had those as patio tables. Not nearly as nice as the photos but match for that place, heavy enough they couldn't be thrown.
