zippo lighters

here's a good way to make sure your zippo will light..of course zippo is on the left..super glue came in the container on the right.which has proven to be air/water tight.at least up to a point...i remove the flints from bic/cricket lighters and keep them in it...the flints in the new bics/crickets are to long if i leave um as is.so i use my multi pliers to cut them in half.a half of a flint last me over a omnth..maybe over 2 months.

if you go to use your lighter and it wont light due to flint n wheel being wet.remove flint thats in it.dry the wheel and put a fresh/dry flint into it..the catch is.making sure hands and fingers are dry to start with.and use a dry cloth to dry wheel on lighter..

All you have to do is put spare flints under the felt - cotton wadding retainer and you will always have spare flints on hand.
A good clean Zippo should light - even if it had gotten wet.
If you get it that wet that it won't light - chances are there is also water in the wick and it isn't going to light regardless of if you have a spare flint or not!

good point about the wick..i was just thinking about the flint..i've often kept a extra under the felt.

I found that all the Zippos I've used evaporate their fuel waaaay to fast for me to like them...

Occasionally, my Zippos would get to where they were not making very good sparks when I'd try to light them. I found that rolling the striker backwards a few turns would clean & reshape the flint a little and then it would throw great sparks. Adjusting the wick a little will make it easier to light as well....sometimes.
