That's so typical of a pompous arrogant government slacker, to call us peons "ignorant" when we don't bow down to them. Throughout most of my working career I had the "pleasure" of working with countless civil servants. Most were ok, but they all had that attitude that they were God's gift and we taxpayers were here to serve them. I'll be glad to see them go.

A " SPECIAL " prison has now been set in the jungles of " Panama " for " illegal aliens that the Communist party deluged us with . It is in the " Darion Gap " . I expect the skeeters are a bit annoying there . I don't know whether this facility even has walls but perhaps razor wire perimeter as it is actually touted to be a " holding facility " . --- All the U.S. taxpayer freebies that the Biden syndicate gave away have now been taken away from the illegal folks , in the U.S. . Now the illegals can not hold a job without I.C.E hauling them off to somewhere like the Darion Gap . They ain't getting free motels , free food and such anymore . many will probably self-deport before they end up in Guantanamo or the Panama jungle . --- Bottom line expect dogs , cats , ducks and about anything with meat on it's body to be in jeopardy from being eaten . For most of us our gardens are not in full swing yet , but that too could be a target .

Yes...reasonable cuts are OK vs the chainsaw we see now, which is absolutely destructive. Totally alignment of federal jobs with Constitutional federal authorities....but do things smartly and give the private sector a chance to stand up any other jobs and fill them with preference to displaced civil servants, just this time.

Rehire the fired civil servants back into federal jobs at the same pay grade, if those jobs are aligned with legal federal authorities/responsibilities.
The President is doing what he can do to try and save the Empire. The real change needs to come from Congress and the People but it's hard to put Congress and the People on a diet to save their life in this case the life of the Empire.

Ultimate the Empire is going to collapse and then everybody will be out of a job.

Wow... I made one post about the silly stock market, and this thread lit off like a California wildfire!!!

If a $5,000 check is sent out it'll be inflationary and inflation will will just go up to cover that check. In order to send out a check the money will have to be borrowed.
Or saved by kicking all the border bunnies off the public tit. Lord B0ngo gave Iran enough money to give every man, woman, and child in America almost 75 grand!

Because why would one ever want the human touch in jobs.

I don't know what the advent of AI portends for human employment. A lot of people don't want anything to do with having to be "tech-y". I guess they'll just be unemployed in the "new economy."
I would be one of those anti techies. Glad I'm retired.

Oh, since federal employees are such a waste...there is a Ranger who was fired this week (recent promotee--so "probationary"). Her story is out there, but the bottom line is she was helping with search and rescue in NC after the hurricane, using assets to assist in the effort.

Excellent performance reviews and a solid performer.

Since federal employees are such a waste and all...

God, some of you folks...
Well i support some civil service stuff...i was one myself for a time..might be in future again...but anyhow....just to catch up to speed...park folks and usfs etc. are being funded again...its been reversed......also on a side note....before elections last fall in october usfs had banned hiring seasonals for the year of 2025...long before elections...you can search that out yourself.

if you get military retirement for 30 years...then you should be good to go..enough to live on...good luck...good luck to us all in fact...we are 35 trillions dollars in debt..we gotta get it under control somehow...this is start...

now back to some worthless govt eaters...i seen them....i am still deciding if i want to open up that can of worms...stay tuned..if i do it will have a few details.

it's very difficult to have a discussion with you, if you won't even say what agency you work at. Could be something important ( ICE agents , Federal marshals , USDA inspector at the meat processing facility, bridge inspector for example) could be something totally stupid and useless, like LGBDXYZ study agency paper shuffler. It would not matter if you were the best paper shuffler in the world and worked 60 hours a week, if the job is not necessary

A lot of government jobs were nothing more DEI paper shufflers.

I would like to know what seasonal workers do in the National Parks and National Forest, Bureau of Land Management, etc. They certainly aren't managing the lands under their judications.

What I don't understand is that if the economy is bad, why are there so many unfilled jobs? Are the job adds just not real ? Or do people not want to do certain jobs? Or are they not qualified?
mml373 keeps complaining about losing his job , but there has to be something he can do . But we won't know unless he tells us what he actually does.

they are always looking for park rangers at the local State Park, so I would assume National Parks need them too
( I thought of doing that at one time, until I found out they have to do things like clean the bathrooms )

Welfare keeps a lot of people from taking jobs. But also a lot of jobs are "ghost" jobs. That is companies are just posting jobs to build lists of protentional work force. My number two foster daughter got her job that way. She put a online job apt in for a chemist. She had forgotten she had even done that. Once she graduated the company got ahold of her an offered a job as a forensic chemist dealing with oil.

yeah, that's probably true. When son was looking for a job, he didn't hear back from some of them at all. Others it took a long time and he had already accepted the job he has now when they got back to him.
But there ARE real jobs out there, at least here

I preach continuously about all of the high-paying jobs that are here in "the oil-patch".
Unfortunately, thousands of 'keyboard-warriors' that work at home, pecking keys on the keyboard of their laptops, they never realized that this what AI does best.
They want nothing to do with a job working outdoors. :(
Now back to our regularly scheduled program: "Trump is destroying the country!!gaah".

The daughter works in a laboratory inside dealing with oil samples. Nice and warm or cool depending on the weather. Not outside. Apparently the oil companies send the samples to the laboratory for analysis.

What you say above simply is not the case with the vast of majority of civil servants I have known and worked with, for decades. Certainly doesn't apply to me. Certainly doesn't apply to anyone I work with. But we are tired of being broadbrushed by the kind of comment you've made above and, yes, I'm not going to just stand by and let that kind of comment go unaddressed. I don't care who you've dealt with...it's not how the rest of us out here work.

Nobody's God's gift to anyone, and we all have work to do. My job requires a lot of public engagement, public input, and incorporating that input into land management projects. I *LOVE* working with the public and trying to ensure everyone's input is considered and taken into account when we do projects on federal lands.

Rethink what you're saying...it simply is not representative of most civil servants.

Maybe they are disabled...as a result of military service.

I know that Forest Rangers do not clean bathrooms.

That's left to lower level employees--technicians and seasonal hires. Most of these were fired this week, and seasonals aren't funded for fiscal 2025 in the Forest Service...so it may very well become a Forest (or Park) Ranger duty.

I heard 3 of my stockers today as they were unloading a pallet of beans etc. onto the grocery shelves talking about what they were going to "do" with their $5,000 “DOGE Dividends.”

Not only would that give-away be inflationary, but it’s exactly the kind of handouts everyone always says the government shouldn’t be doing…we should be paying down the national debt so we can quit paying the HUGE amount of interest that debt creates!

That 814 billion dollar pandemic stimulus between 2020 and 2021 may have added 2.6% to U.S. inflation. (Trump paid out two of them in 2020 and Biden did the last in 2021.)
When a government gives people more money, they use it to buy more goods and services, which increases demand, and raises prices. This is known as the "demand-pull" mechanism

There are the three main causes of inflation - demand-pull, cost-push, and built-in inflation.
  1. Demand-pull inflation is when demand for goods and services outpaces supply
This can be caused by increased consumer spending, investment, or a low unemployment rate
  2. Cost-push inflation is when the cost of producing goods and services increases
This can be caused by rising wages, raw material prices, or government taxes
    (including tariffs)
  3. Built-in inflation is when workers demand higher wages to keep up with rising living costs This can lead to a self-reinforcing loop of wage and price increases
I know everyone might like an extra 5K, but as you can see from the three causes of inflation (above) all this stuff being proposed could jack inflation back through the roof.
As a grocer, I can raise prices if everyone else does, so my employees and I will be OK because people have to eat, and will continue to buy groceries.
But there are huge sectors of the economy that won’t survive sky-high inflation. (again!)

P.S. The stockers were also talking about how money from the rare-earth minerals in Ukraine is going to be distributed to Americans too! REALLY?
Who needs those rare-earth minerals? Umm, that would be Musk.
And governments don’t do mining!
That would be private companies, who are NOT going to be sending us checks!

You seem to forget we the people are funding and going in debt to pay the salaries and retirements of "civil servants".

Land management? I have seen lots of "land management" over the years by forest service and park personnel.... Most of it to thwart honest tax paying american citizens from accessing and using our own public lands...
Since I live right between yellowstone and glacier parks in montana which has millions of acres of "public land" I know personally people in the government beau acracy that are there solely to further their own tree hugging private interests...
No access except for those jogging in their natural colored spandex while on vacation from san francisco.... No hunting and let the forests burn thru miss management...

Chop the payroll (just like any private business has to do when they have over spent and live with the income generated....

This country will surely sink....if we keep spending like a government employee on a "educational" conference trip to las vegas.....

Nah, I was on the outskirts of the industry. be very afraid!
I'll be very afraid when AI can build a skyscraper all by itself or make my supper, or fill my gas tank, etc.

The US needs the rare earth minerals, not just Musk and his company's. Yes, of course private companies would do the mining. This mining would create good high paying jobs. That's kind of a strange statement, like it's a bad thing for private companies to do the mining?

There ain't no free lunch....
Interesting post but I am a little slow .......where does the federal government borrowing and inflating the money supply come in to the inflation picture?

Nah, I was on the outskirts of the industry. be very afraid!
I'll be very afraid when AI can build a skyscraper all by itself or make my supper, or fill my gas tank, etc. All I've seen so far is just an advanced search engine. AI is only as good as the programmers writing the algorithms. Deepseek showed that.
