BFE... and lovin' it!
The rodeo won't begin till tonight, but I'll probably go... I went to the fair and roamed around, it was pretty fun but the day was warm even though I was wearing shorts & a T-shirt. I took a few pics at various crafts stalls, I really liked that cat quilt, lol. The other arts & crafts were cool too, and the carnival ride area had one machine called 'Freak Out'---riders would get major overhang while the whole end rotated, it was crazy! I almost bought some tickets for it, but then I thought about my stiff & sore muscles... didn't want to get slammed around on such a dynamic ride, so I wussed out and skipped it, lol. It was a gnarly ride though, I'm sure passengers blow chowder on a regular basis, lol. Probably don't wanna stand under the ride while those folks are tossin' their lunch, yeah? Might receive an unexpected & rather chunky shower, lol...

Let's start our pics, I think I have a few rounds to post, and of course I'll throw the rodeo shots in this thread later... :)

Ain't that cat quilt COOL? The other stuff is cool too, I like the horse & dragon! The Eiffel Tower and the Star Wars figures were all made of Legos, lol. Howzabout that scorpion drawn by some little kid? I think he managed to catch the gist of it with that stinger, lol. ;)

Back in a moment with more pics from the fair...

Round #2 of fair pics, I thought of y'all when I saw this display of locally-grown fruit & veggies, lol. If ya dropped that green gourd off a skyscraper in NYC, it'd probably kill a busload of Chinese tourists, lol:

See what I mean about that 'Freak Out' ride? The one with the yellow pods for passengers? I'll tell ya, they were UP there in the sky while that whole pod end spun around, it was crazy! The 'crank' or whatever ya wanna call it would swing back & forth between the standing legs, and the pod end would spin, lol. Somehow this reminds me of a carnival in Coronado in the early '70s, where some hand operating "The Hammer" would routinely hose barf outta the metal pods, despite the heavy power cables directly under the ride, lol. "WHADDYA MEAN WATER & ELECTRICITY DON'T MIX?!?"

That equipment in the last pic looks like what I need for the goldurned weeds in my yard, lol. ;)

Round #3 of fair pics, starting with a closeup shot of that equipment I need for my yard, lol:

I like the 'Stealth' logo on the radio station pickup, I think Holloman AFB has the F-117 Stealth Fighters, or used to at some point in the past. Maybe they still do, who knows? I had to pass on the mechanical bull, for the same reasons I wussed out on the carnival ride, lol. That 900cc Triumph Scrambler was in the parking lot, so I took a shot of it... before the Japanese bikes became popular, Triumph was the leading manufacturer of bikes for pavement or dirt. I like the old 'Scrambler' bikes like Steve McQueen used to ride, they were hardcore desert sleds for their time, lol. I threw in those last two pics because I thought some of you might be interested in the 'Trip Hopper'---some sort of apparatus for feeding stock on a circuit route or whatever. Pellet type feed, I guess? 🤔

P.S. I reckon anybody handy with tools could make his or her own 'Trip Hopper' out of lumber scraps and plywood, lol. You know, a "Redneck Trip Hopper!!!" ;)

Neighbor of mine growing up had an old Triumph and a BSA. You could here them coming over the hill. Sweet bikes

I love seeing the pics of all the produce. Looks like some good stuff grown this year

Well, I didn't get to watch the entire rodeo after all, I showed up too late and the bleachers were packed... and Sheriff's deputies kept folks off the rails, so I ultimately wound up getting my money back and leaving, but not before seeing the opening ceremonies for the night and watching a few bronc busters in action. Didn't catch any pics of the bronc busters, as my camera would stall out due to lighting conditions: once the camera figured out what it wanted to do, the ride was already over... but so it goes. One hand stayed aboard for 8 seconds and got a decent score, he was leading the board when I left. Meh, next time I'll show an hour earlier so I get a seat, aye? Good to see that rodeo is alive and well in Alamogordo, there must have been thousands of spectators at the arena last night!

In that last pic, the riders with the flags thundered past so quickly that the cheesy Canon cam couldn't even focus on 'em properly, lol. But the whole scene was awesome in person, and I'm sure those folks who scored good seats enjoyed the show... I didn't wanna leave early, and I would've stood at the rail the whole time, but once the deputies started telling folks to back off, I just figured I left the house too late. No worries, there will be other rodeos... this one was supposed to happen again tonight, but the gal in the ticket booth said last night was final. I'll have to check today, maybe there will still be another show tonight, and I can arrive early to ensure that I get a decent seat in the stands.
