4 Killed and Multiple People Wounded in Birmingham Late Night Shooting, Alabama Police Say

Four people have died and more than 20 were wounded in a shooting in a nightlife area in Birmingham, Alabama, according to police and news reports.

There were multiple people shot on 20th Street near Magnolia Avenue in the Five Points South area, the Birmingham Police Department said in a social media post.

Birmingham Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the shooting with up to 21 people wounded happened shortly after 11 p.m. in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue South, AL.COM reported.

Fitzgerald said there were "dozens of gunshot victims" and at least four had "life-threatening” injuries, AL.COM reported.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced the three victims dead on the scene and a fourth person was pronounced dead at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, AL.COM reported.

Police said the victims found dead at the scene included two men and a woman, WBMA-TV reported.

Other victims were transported to hospitals in private vehicles, police told WBMA.

The Birmingham police did not immediately respond to an email from The Associated Press seeking additional information.

The Five Points South area of Birmingham has numerous entertainment venues, restaurants and bars and often is crowded on Saturday nights.
Police said there were no immediate arrests.

“We will do everything we possibly can to make sure we uncover, identify and hunt down whoever is responsible for preying on our people this morning," Fitzgerald told WBMA.

Getting Worse there lately and seems it will bee continued...

Just wondered what the demographics are for the shooters and the victims.
It's always best to stay out of crowded areas after dark, and be aware of the people that frequent places like that. And if you're going in to an area like that anyway, make sure you're armed.

Shoplifters? :dunno:
2 gangs shooting it out in a crowded place?

Drug deal or gang bangers
Doesn't this :

Help...?!?

WBRC:
"Police believe multiple suspects arrived at the location in a vehicle. The suspects exited the vehicle and fired multiple shots at a group of people who were on the sidewalk of Magnolia Avenue before getting back in their vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Detectives believe the shooting was not random and stemmed from an isolated incident where multiple victims were caught in the crossfire.... .
Police confirmed the weapons used were fully automatic. More than 100 shell casings were found at the scene, according to Chief Thurmond.

This is not the first occasion, unfortunately, in 2024 where we’ve seen the style of weapons, the number of bullets on the scene, possibly convergent use, etcetera, for automatic weapons being used in our streets,” said Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin. ...
In a new conference Sunday morning, Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond says he believes someone was paid to kill the targeted victim, and they believe that victim is among those who died."

I bet that with over 100 cases on the ground, the cops ran out of the little yellow plastic teepee things to put over each one.

Is everything about Death, Funny to you...?!?

They had to borrow some red Solo cups and a sharpie to number them :p

No, what is funny is seeing deep-blues that won't lock up their violent offenders, and watching what that causes.
Wait until arrests are made and they roll out the rap-sheets on them, for a chuckle.
This was obviously a gangland war, not a random shooting of innocent people.
Stay tuned. :)

WVTM13: "On Sunday morning, the streets of downtown Birmingham began bustling, with some of the restaurants in the area opening as normal.

While the shooting happened near Hush, a hookah and cigar lounge, a brunch restaurant above was full of guests eating and drinking."

Wow, that was fast!
Business as usual?

Gang crap.
One group pulled up, got out of the car, and started shooting at another group.

This is typical gang warfare. Happens all the time in the Jacksonville, Florida ghetto.

This evening the local news reported that it was contract hit. It was near downtown, area called 5-points. Headline...

Four dead, 17 others shot in Birmingham mass shooting

I don't drive within the city limits after dark. Only go to the university medical center and VA during the day. There were 75 murders in the first 6months of 2024. Basically a murder every 2.5 days, that's not counting the non-fatal shootings.
