My great aunt would have left the plastic cover on it for years... Any kid that sat on it would sweat like a mule during the summer without AC in the house...

I think it was 1957, my parents bought a new set, and they left that horrible, crackly, stiff, stinky plastic on until it fell apart.

It was the in thing .

A lot of employees are working from home in Seattle.
Hey, I thought masks didn't do any good! What are those oldtimers doing wearing them?
Our oldest and her family live a few miles out of Seattle.
My kids live south of Seattle. My son just got back from a week-long cruise from California to Mexico. I told him he was crazy to go on a cruise.

To be fair in that era routine washing hands was not a thing. Plus cocaine was considered medicinal.
 
And the Cadillac La Salle was not an inexpensive car.
 
Beautiful L1011 in the background. I got to fly on one of those in the 80's.
Today they are all used to haul freight or put out fires in Cali.
The power of those engines when the pilot floorboarded it at the beginning of the runway was impressive even to this former drag-racer.
Something so big, accelerating so fast, was jaw-dropping o_O .
