Do the moderators and other members think it may be useful to have a non-specific questions area so that any new members can fire off any question that they need help with and get it answered quickly by our very knowledgeable members?
I wondered if this would help new members? It may save them from having to look through many other posts on specific topics and getting overwhelmed.

Just a thought.
Also I want to take this opportunity to thank our moderators for the great job they do and setting up this invaluable site.

I think you already found that area...............

the best educational tool for any newbie is reading thru the history postings of a prepper site >>> figuring out the best way for a project is one thing - cutting corners is another - been at this since the internet sites began and I find nuggets every single day ....

I understand and agree. Knowledge will be our best prep. A host of vital info can be gleaned here. I want to say thank you to all who have contributed.

I think I may be over worrying here as I feel time is running out and that something big is coming. I thought a dedicated quick fire ask your question and get an instant answer (we are global here and cover many time zones) might be able to put a person's mind at rest if they don't have time to look through years worth of content.
I'm sure it will be fine.

We have the shout box you can shout a question to.... we have a beginner's prepping section,, prepping 101 etc... we have it all here. I'm not sure what you want.

Wow, I have never heard of a shout box. This is awesome! Okay honesty time ... I'm getting a bit old and I am not good with all this tech stuff. I'm starting to think all this prepping videos I see on Youtubes is just for the younger fitter people. I don't know how to find information sometimes and I sometimes get confused by large amounts of information.
If a person had a specific question, is there a place to ask a question without trawling through numerous topics? What if the question overlaps a few topics, where should it be posted?
I promise I am not trying to be difficult ... I just cannot keep up with all this modern stuff and I don't always know where to look. I am sorry for my age and for not being good with buttons - there are skills beyond the buttons and I hope I will not be written off as useless just yet here.

Go To the main page or click on the Doomsday Prepper Forim banner at the top of the page, you will see the shout box at the top end of the site or a tab to open it.

I do three things when I first join a forum.1st I update my profile.2nd.i look through the different sections to find info that im interested in.3rd I use the search to locate different topics by using certain words or sentences.then I go into the new member section and introduce myself.and of course I'll finally start posting replays and questions.

I find the search box very helpful to narrow down answers to questions I have. It is amazing the questions we all have in common. I can usually find somehthing here previously posted regarding what I want to know. Sometimes I do foreget to search first to see if topic has been covered, but I am trying to get in the habit of searching first, before posting questions that have already been asked and answered, many times with good resources recommended for more info.

Examples: This morning I searched for powered or dry milk and found some interesting info that I did not know... :D
