I can't let this thread die with zero replies :(.
When fracking took off, the enviro-nazis screamed:
"It is so wonderful, we must find something bad about it!gaah"
It pollutes the groundwater!!!
Furthermore, despite Gasland trumpeting the dangers of chemicals used in fracking fluid, the film’s many critics point out that fracking fluids are up to 95% water, with most of the rest being sand. A tiny 0.5% to 1% actually consists of chemicals, which a number of studies confirmed were not harmful in the concentrations used.

To push back against the contamination claims, the head of a drilling company went so far as to drink fracking fluid during a press conference.

Drill baby drill!
I live in natural gas/fracking land. They haven't drilled under my land (yet) but I've made over $30,000 so far just so they can lease what's under my acreage. Another $10,000 or so for them running a gas line under my land.
If they do drill under my property, I'll get royalties.
It's clean. The well heads can get noisy so that's a minus but they do what they can to keep the heads away from residences.

We definitely kept the mineral rights when we sold our sector of the family farm down in south Texas. The family sold the whole farm, but each of us relatives had a specific sector of it that was "ours" legally speaking. They used to pay us money to have the first right to drill, but when the environmentalists started putting the squeeze on oil/gas, that lease expired and so did the payments. But things change over time and someday we may get a new lease, or even better, actual drilling. That would pay nicely. And, since we no longer own the land - just the mineral rights under the land - we don't have to worry about any noise, property access or anything like that. We're just the trolls that live thousands of feet underground with that oil, waiting to be paid to cough it up.
