Bread From Acorns (1933)

Hmm… guess acorns are worth something. But is it worth harvesting a couple 5 gallon buckets. I mean I don’t know what I’d do them.
🤔

We turn acorns into venison. Collect them, put them in a bucket, and throw them out into the area we'd like to see some deer. Usually that area is many miles away where there aren't any oak trees. We've also noticed our deer prefer white oak acorns over red oak ones.
Yup.

White oaks have less tannic acid in them than reds and thus are eaten first by deer early in the season. Deer tend to hit the road oak acorns later in the season when the rain has washed more tannic acid out of them. The bow season just started and I pay very close attention to some hot white oaks that deer are feeding on- Later in the season I will be paying closer attention to the reds. This little tidbit of basic knowledge consistently puts meat in my freezer.
