A lot of Hams, radio enthusiasts, preppers listen to long distance AM broadcasts. This is also called DX'ing. If you have an AM radio and listen at night you can pick up a lot of stations far away. You can also use an AM Loop.
This is the one I use. It's a Terk Advantage and it works quite well in bringing in stations clearer.
