Started this morning.

Except for some socks that we're listed as 70% off! (they're actually about 20% off) everything I've looked at so far as being a deal is no cheaper than regular price. In some cases, it's more than regular price.

I'm not buying a damn thing.

To check price history on an Amazon, go to camelcamelcamel.com
They watch pricing/trends for most everything on Amazon.

Before Prime I ordered an item that was $300 with a $100 coupon for the $200 final price. Then during Prime Days it was a "prime deal' with the $200 price listed as the 'deal'.

I have a couple small items in my cart but won't buy them until after Prime Days are over. I won't ever become a Prime customer. I know the prices will be reduced to 'prime deal prices' after a week or so has passed. It's just a big ole' scam. I order from other places if possible b/c I really don't like Amazon. However, there are some things that I can only get there.

To me, here's the deal with Amazon. If you can go down the street or even across town & get what you want then you don't need Amazon or even mail order. But in our town of 100,000 (actually I think that's counting people in the general area), we just don't have those options. I'm not driving 2.5 hours every time i need something. And there's a huge number of people in our country that are in the same boat as I am.

Here's a real example of why I buy from Amazon: I got new hoses for my water barrels. Bought them at Walmart & they were even cheaper than Amazon. But I needed female to female hose connectors. I tried a couple of stores here & struck out. So i ordered 1 set of 2 of them for $4.99 from Amazon. Had them in 3 days or so. Needed more so same thing & they came in 3 days later. Figured that I'd change all of the hoses on my other barrels so bough more hoses & remembered that there was one place in town I hadn't checked for connectors. They had them so I bought 3 packages of 1 each at $6.99 each. So 4.99 for 2 on Amazon or $20.97 for 3 locally. I went on & bought them because I wanted to finish the project. But that's why Amazon is popular. And in typing this I realized that for what I paid for 3 of those connectors, I could have had 8 of them for about the same price. I feel stupid!

I do most of my shopping off of Amazon and yes, I am a Prime member.

My reasoning:
1. Their prices are about the same or cheaper than most other retailers.
2. Free, fast shipping. If you're not a Prime member, what do you pay for shipping? I just looked and I've placed 115 orders so far this year (2024). All items shipped free.
3. They have a great return policy.
4. They have 95% of the things I want or need. One stop shopping.
5. I use an Amazon credit card. I get 5% back on all purchases.
6. Most sellers stand behind their products (e.g. I bought a garden hose recently. Just out of the return window, I noticed blisters on the outer shell. The seller saw my bad review and is sending me a new one).

Found a Dewalt oscillating tool. Ordered for my son so doesn't have to borrow mine.

Give Him the One He likes to Borrow and Keep that New one Yourself...!!! :lightbulb:

Nothing. I wait until I get $35 to qualify for free shipping. These days, it doesn't take long.....

2 day shipping for Prime never works in my area. We just don't have the devliery processes for that. I usually get my stuff in a week or so. Ebay is usually faster for me.

I also don't always get into the 'big' town often and avoid it in the summer if at all possible b/c the traffic sucks. So, I use Amazon when I have to, but I try and buy locally when I can.

I caught a good deal on a 7.25" circular saw on prime day last year but the deals this year are meh. I already have most of what I need from dewalt though I been watching for that 20v fan to drop down below $95 tool only. Lowes 🙄 has it for $150 with a charger and 5ah xr battery which is probably the better deal. Don't really need either one though.

On my shopping list is a new microwave that also has convection, which is the same as an air fryer. No luck. I've been looking at them for a while. So far no luck.
I looked at dried foods, generators, flash lights, and some random stuff. No luck.

I did see a few videos that were done of the deals that preppers might be interested in.
