That is cool. stone tools are common around here, everyone has arrowheads, knives and spear points are more rare. I helped a friend sell part of her collection a few years ago. She had 2 small mortar and pestles and 4 pestles without the mortars.

My great aunt told me to be careful about the tips of arrow heads and spear heads, that sometimes they had poison on them. I'm not sure that is true, but it is what she told me. There was a site that we went to as an eighth grade trip, and I found one arrow head.

Any poison on a cutting tip is likely inert after prolonged exposure to the elements. While it is true that some cutting tips incorporated some kind of fast working toxin, finding an arrowhead or spear point with functional poisons is about as likely as getting hit by an asteroid from Mars hitting you. It might be possible but so unlikely as to be just barely non-zero.

The Anasazi left behind many broken stone mortars, mortars used to grind their maize for the flat-cakes that were the principle staple of their diet. Some of the stone was ground into the flour, baked into the cakes, and wore the enamel from their teeth, causing caries in nearly every mouth before they reached 30 y.o.

The pueblo life wasn't all fun&games, eh?
