Someone put a string around Mickey's neck when he was a puppy, and as he grew, the string got embedded deeper and deeper in his flesh. 😰
I was told that Mickey had a friend, Minnie.
When I arrived at the rescue location in Central California, I was approached my Mortimer, a cat who lived under a car alongside Mickey and Minnie.
Luckily, I always carry an extra trap for cats - just in case I come across a cat in need, and Mortimer definitely seemed sick to me.
(I suspected FIV, and sadly, I was correct).

A homeless, rare,

heterochromatic kitten gets rescued

and then meets a rare dog! 🐺🙀

I will never know how Pixi ended up in that location,
but I am so happy Hope For Paws received the call to help him.

Pixi has heterochromia (a condition that causes cats to have different colored eyes, and it can also affect dogs and humans).

This little guy never had human contact,
so I had to go slow so he wouldn't panic and try to run away.

I also wanted to protect my fingers from injury
so I could continue to my next rescue in one piece. 😸

Donkeys are such super amazing and smart animals!! And LOUD😃! My Buddy has so many facial expressions, and always lets his mood be known!! He loves to play and check out what's going on!! Great video @Ekatarina !!
The wife had 2 mini donkeys for a couple years. We had to give them away when they started eating my barn.

Hubby learned the hard way that everything is a toy to a donkey! If you are doing any work in Buddy's pasture and you stop for lunch, take everything you brought in there out! One time Hubby was raking and picking up acorns from under the big oak in Buddy's pasture ( not good for him to eat). He left the garden tractor and wagon with his rake and big shovel out there while he went in for lunch! Buddy took the rake and shovel, chewed a hole in the tractor seat, and managed to take the pin out of the wagon and unhook it! Hubby had to go looking for his rake, shovel and the hitch pin!😃🫏

Most of the strays that occupy my shop were drop offs, probably as a result of idiots "needing " pets during Crapvid, and now with the cost of vets to fix them, they just breed. Cause the idiot vets won't fix them until they have their cancer inducing shots (whole nother evil group)

Is buddy a democrat, someone helps him and he wrecks things anyway???

Years ago I had a draft horse that would pick up my chainsaw and wander off with it. This same horse would put his head through his collar when I'd hold it up. He loved to work and pull heavy logs. He'd nip at his partner if he didn't think he was pulling his share.

If he knew where the saw was, he knew you weren't going logging without him

The credit for the clever idea that saved this whole family belongs to Rebecca Walker.

She is a school teacher, but when she spotted Sherlock and Olivia searching for food, she felt that Olivia was hiding babies somewhere.

Rebecca couldn't touch Olivia, who was pretty shy, but Sherlock was friendly and enjoyed human contact.

Rebecca had an idea, and she placed an Apple Airtag on him, but because this was in a rural area, there were not enough signals marking his location.

She then ordered a GPS tracker, and that did the trick!

She found the location, and even though Hope For Paws is located 4 hours south of that location, she reached out to us for help.
I gave Sherlock his name because I needed a name for the computer at the hospital so pain meds could be prescribed.

I figured since smart detective work was needed here, he should have this name. 😊
