Hey Merkeet, would you share your turnip omelette receipe? Sounds interesting

turnips
eggs
butter
onions, optional
olive oil, optional
water

Put turnips in fry pan with just enough water to cook [ they cook within a few minutes] .

When turnips are cooked add onions ,olive oil butter. stir a little then pour in eggs.
Cover for a couple minutes, then turn them over and enjoy.

I add olive oil so my butter doesn't get too brown. I always grease side of pan so eggs don't stick as much.

part of my harvest. Had to stop because of a big rain storm.. . With quarter size hail. It leaned over some of my 6 ft tall corn :(. Hoping I can restand up. They are only a few weeks away from harvesting. Honestly want to cry.

Sorry to hear Dani......sucks nuturing your plants all year then having mother nature slap you in the face. Let's hope they make it. Your other veggies look nice!

Taking a break right now. Been out since daybreak. All corn is stood back up right now along with 5 tomatoes cages that got knocked over. There is only 1 patty squash that looks questionable on surviving the storm yesterday and my row of green beans got pretty hammered in spots but hoping they will be ok. We had some major winds with that storm. I was sitting on the back deck that has a 20ft covering. Just were strong enough to blow thru that whole length.

last year I had the same problem with the corn getting blown over so this year I had dug trenches that were at least 3 inches deep and planted my seeds 1 inch down in those trenches. As they grew I back filled those trenches. . . I only though they were deep enough to support but no. So now they have another 4-6 inches of holler dirt along the base. Sure hope they make it till harvest. With the price of corn seeds I sure hope. . .

More stuff to harvest here. How big should cucumber be to harvest? I have dozens of little watermelon, dozens little sugar cube melons and hundreds of cucumber.....

Depends on if you want whole pickles or if you’re going to slice or spear them. The little quiggly (curly) thing next to the melon will die and turn brown when it’s ripe.
Thanks NannyPatty....the ones in the picture are about the length of a normal size man's hand. I usually just eat them as is but I'll probably pickle some since I'll have a bunch.

Just getting cuttings from my herbs on the deck. Parsley, chives, mints, and oregano

shoot our planting season just started on mother's day here. if you plant before that you take a risk of a hard frost or even a freeze. it was a wet but mild temp wise spring but now the heat and humidity is here

I keep shaking diatomaceous earth on my stuff but the rain wipes it off again lol

@Dani sorry to hear about your corn and beans and hope they survive until harvest time and you get great crops off them.

@Dutchs your crops are going really well and now you will have to learn some new skills on how to preserve your abundance, try selling some too if you have a market for them there and you have too many.

I have found that cukes turn yellow for a couple reason. Mainly if they are over ripe. Another is if you get a leaf that turns yellow and leave it on the vine the cuke next to it may turn yellow before it fully developed and will be bitter tasting. I pinch off any yellowing leaves. . . . follow the stem down until it reaches the main vine, then pinch and twist off. If not, it seems to follow to the next set of leaves then they will yellow.
