I don't need any of those things.
I need a cheap American made toaster and it can't cost over 30 bucks
try TEMU
I buy stuff there all the time, and it's really cheap and no worse than other stuff , just looked they have toasters for $15

I just ordered a new frying pan there, less than walmart same quality most likely

oh wait, this will NOT be American made LOL, good luck finding ANY toasters made in the US at any cost!!

Things sound just rosy in your neck of the woods.
Yes it is. Anybody who wants a job, and has a pulse, can get a job. Sure, it may not be a dream job, but with a little hard work and dedication anyone can advance. The simple truth is, many people want it all now. They piss and moan about being cold, hot, dirty, work too hard and what they consider low pay. Over the years I've terminated lots of these lazy thumb suckers. And they weren't all youngsters either. Got no use for them.

its not...i posted a article and video i think of the big mill shutting down in montana....my friend that just died lived there and she kept me abreast of situation...i know at one point another big mill in eastern washington told my friend they were now paying the truckers fuel bill trucking logs to try and stay open and not shut the place down and said they just couldnt pay more for logs etc. but could foot fuel bill for a short period to try and save jobs all around...i had a big job that greedy guy could have let us work but he refused to make a few pennys less per ton that he was...he could have let us figured it...first go around 100 of us got the axe..i was last guy gone in first round...i had 10 year seniority on that job...poof....it was gone for over a decade...now last few years its operating at about 10% of capacity and guys make $6 less an hour...still not recovered that contract....it all ended.

oh well...i made it count in my life....72 hours a week for 10 years ! i knew it wouldnt last......

done it myself...layed in water and half rotted sawdust just to weld up a conveyor leg, etc. or pull a belt through rollers to get it to point of repair and relace it.

one job in winter...my mtn dew would freeze solid in half and hour...12 hour days in that.

guy much older than me didnt want to help me put a rubber retread on a giant bandmill wheel....i told him just as soon as i was done i was headed to that saw and he better be there to help or you are fired....he said i couldnt fire him...i told him thats fine but it be done by plant manager when he came in next afternoon....all he had to do was help steady it till i got it started to drive in place....it was about 4 foot bandwheel....lol

Trump won the electoral college and the popular vote. That's all that matters. He's the president for all Americans.

Democrats get about 20% of there votes from fraud, during 2020 election it was more like 30+ percent fraud.

So I'd say it was an overwhelming victory.

I think you are probably right, I helped son look for a job online , and looked around some and there are actually a lot more manufacturing jobs around here than you would think of all sorts.
There are a lot of jobs I could have applied for if I still wanted to work as an engineer and now what I used to do pays 200k a year instead of 100k , so pay has doubled too along with the inflation. I think it just mostly hurts people on a fixed income. Like I said before, they are going to try to inflate away the debt caused by the entitlements. Oh well, I don't really regret having been a farmer for the past 9 years, despite the lack of money. We are not starving

Mills have always shut down, many have moved to other areas and many have rebuilt. The simple truth is, too much timber has been cut over the past 100+ years. Just about all of the old growth mills have shut down because they couldn't transition to cutting the smaller timber. So new mills have opened up that can cut smaller trees. Many of our logs are being shipped overseas too. But every mill that I know of is doing good right now. Next month they could have layoffs. It's just a fact of life. Smart people work all the OT they can get and save it for the slow times. The stupid people don't work OT, or they don't save it and then sit around crying about how unfair life is.

i knew guys walked away after 10 years with nothing...i mean nothing...but a ragged out pick up they tore all to hell..one guy had a few atv's he destroyed in the mud having fun...23k one cost him...ragged it out....no land..no home..no savings...not my problem...he and more pissed it all away....i tried to get them to do employer match...hell they match dollar for dollar...who turns that down.

All the Americans that want jobs already have them.
There are plenty of Central Americans that want jobs, but Trump is busy rounding them up.
It will be interesting to see how labor demand evolves over the next few years to decade.

Many factors are new.......like an aging population driving demand for working age people up.......and AI eliminating jobs and driving demand down.

It will be difficult to forecast in the medium to long term.

I've known a lot of dumbshyts like that over the years too. It's their choice to throw it all away. What a shame for the family.

i told this here...i think...couple of years ago a guy i chat with a few times a year...he had some troubles....anyhow he does a little farming...think big gardens...he has a tiny flock of sheep and goats.....family troubles happened and his nephew had to live with him...14 years old....the guy truck broke down and he is working poor....they made it through winter because of his stored produce and little herd of sheep/goats...he has a woodstove...he go take little plastic sled out when letting livestock browse and cut firewood from dead standing stuff and haul it back home daily...it kept them warm and dry...the homestead was his grandmothers who passed away long ago and because he was one cared about farming and livestock he inherited the place...his herd is less than 20 animals.

some know how to survive with very little.

You are a big part of the problem cause You got's "No Common Sense", CONgrats 2 Ur Life...!!!
I have to say, myself and my senses are very common.
I don't text and that may be why I didn't get it.
Magus straightened that out.

If we can't survive a rough couple years.... write your will..... and hope the survivors thrive with your proceeds.

If the proposed trade war had happened, I think it would have taken a lot longer than a couple years to rebuild American production.

I say it would only be a couple years, because if it had happened, the government would have flipped in the midterms and trump would have been deposed.

before i retired i managed a wholesale building materials distribution warehouse.
I was responsible for order pickers, loaders/unloaders, Class A CDL semi drivers.
Things were tight after the housing crash of 2007 and the Great Recession.

We offered competitive pay but so many applicants couldn't even pass a drug test. Of those that could, half weren't worth a crap.
Plus, it was in the ghetto of the murder capitol of Florida so I had to always be armed. Against company policy, but hey, I was the boss.
I'm glad I'm retired from that headache.

Three days a week now, I punch in, deliver auto parts, punch out and go home. I don't have to worry when someone quits and walks off, or calls in sick, or does the absolute bare minimum to get by.
I get Florida minimum wage, $13, plus a little raise every year, but I'm good with that. Don't want the stress or aggravation required to make more money.

Indeed. It is all that matters.

However, it still makes the statement that he won an overwhelming majority of votes false.
It is also worth being aware that all elections are so close that:
  1. Roughly half the population doesn't really think the current president is their president
  2. When presidents make their election night victory speech and declare they will be the president for all americans.....they don't mean that
  3. Elections are won and lost based upon the votes of a tiny minority of swinging voters.....so campaigns will be aimed at them
The US is deeply divided......and into two camps that are roughly the same size and so very much big enough to be a threat to each other if things get ugly.

i hired one guy who went to lunch on his first day and never came back. LOL

I saw this ALL THE TIME in jobs I worked at. Actually I still see it on the firedepartment.

It was really funny back in the day when the boss would introduce us to a new co-worker....and just hours later, they would disappear, never to be see again.

I almost respect that. I worked a lot of jobs I knew in a matter of hours where a bad job, or at least a bad job for me....but I would stay for YEARS in misery because I didn't want to be a quitter.

Trump is the only one in my lifetime that meant what he said. And he's truly the first president for all Americans.

When I worked overseas I had around 20,000 employees. Never had a problem with any of them. They had no "safety nets" or welfare there. They were very happy to get a job working for an American company and were paid very well, around $250 per month.

One of things that is hard to explain to people who don't travel much is this:

The more people have, the more they want.

Many, many surveys and studies have found that people in third world dumps are, on average, happier than people in first world countries.

Something about simple lives and lower expectations makes people happy.

That has always made me feel better about prepping.....because even if a very severe crisis occurs, there will probably be a substantial proportion of survivors, who will enjoy life more than they would expect.

Not long ago the doomsayers were predicting the world was on the verge of collapse because of dem policies. Now that the dems are out of power, the doomsayers are predicting the world is on the verge of collapse for other reasons.
:dunno:
Luckily for normal people the doomsayers never seem to be right.

I personally think we're on a grand upswing at the moment. 👍 I can envision the doomsayers shaking their heads in disgust that someone actually has an optimistic outlook. But that's their problem to process, not mine.

I found coming home from the third world incredibly depressing. The people there are so much happier its infectious. Coming back to the US felt like entering purgatory.
