Baby steps

So my husband is taking baby steps into the prepper stuff!!! We lost power the other day and he said he wants to buy a small generator and some lanterns for our supplies!!! He still scoffs at all my food stocking but he is at least wanting a few things now!!

Yeah he thinks prepping is crazy and ive told him if worse comes to worse i will take my daughter (any way i have to) and leave him if i have to.

Have you shown him the videos of people eating rotten food out of dumpsters in lower Manhattan one or two days after Hurricane Sandy, or the fact that people died of thirst in Katerina?

I think that "baby steps" are better than no steps at all.

At one point in time, I was all set for 9-12 months and now I am starting all over again. I have to take baby steps, as finances are very tight. One thing I'm going to do is hit the dollar tree soon. We've had a "Family Dollar" store in our area for a while, but recently they just opened a Dollar Tree and wow! You can find some great things there, too (be careful tho - some things are cheaper elsewhere).

My husband isn't a "preppy" as I am, although with talk, I think I'm getting to him. I think it just takes time to work these things out.

If it helps, the expense of prepping can be mitigated.

Working out an arrangement with a local church that engages in food drives can allow you to unload food nearing the end of its shelf life and give you a tax write-off, adopting a bicycle lifestyle will allow you to divert gas money into your stockpile, and so on.

People who are dismissive of the need to prep are in for a rude awakening.
