I have a serious question. What must one do to get banned?

Is it having differing opinions or is it just certain subjects from which we need to steer?

I enjoy this group and don' want to cross any lines.

We are a pretty eclectic group, probably the most diverse of any I've ever been with on the "Interwebs." So having a different opinion is not a crime here and I actually like discussing things with people I disagree with in a civil manner because it forces me to think through and sometimes refine my beliefs and ideas. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

What should not be welcome using insults and personal attacks on people you disagree with. Just because someone doesn't see your point of view doesn't make them "evil."

Another thing that is not welcome is disingenuity. That is, pretending to be something you are not or to know something you really don't. I'm not sure that will get you banned though.

I few years ago when I would drink a few glass of wine, I learned to always wait 5 minutes before posting because I might need to rethink my comments. Lol

this is taken directly off toexits profile ,,,any of you can go there and see for yourself ,,,,,,,the banning was by his request ,,,otherwise I believe he would still be here,,,what I have noticed since he is gone that the comments here on DDP have dropped to a fraction of what they were when he was here,,,,I don't miss the bickering but I do miss the the traffic that the place was having while toexit was here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,good or bad he made the place jump

Differing opinions aren't a problem.. I highly encourage them.
Toexist wanted his account banned his reasoning was his own and wasn't very strong. He and some other members usually got into pissing matches and would report each other on a regular basis. Most times I found that both parties were acting like teen aged boys and I would ignore and delete their complaint. They may have violated our rules by the strictest definition but, IMO, it was mutual combat and I took it with a grain of salt. Toexist started to believe that one of the guys was making alternative accounts to stalk and taunt him. I could find no evidence of this so I denied his reports and requests to ban certain people. He eventually grew Tired of the "harassment" and asked for us to ban him. The only time We use the ban stick is usually when a person offers nothing and simply comes here to talk trash. Usually with those people you can see their posts and see a constant set up. I enjoyed Toexists alternative view. Most times he was pleasant to talk to. He will be missed by me and probably some others however, there are a small number of others that are doing the happy dance. Its really too bad they couldn't move past their venom for each other in order to keep this a successful happy family.

To the rest of you please offer alternative opinions if you truly believe in them. Our country is founded on them...

But then I was likely the one he most hated/attacked (ok, maybe MG?). But for some time I've had him on 'ignore', I haven't seen what he posted nor replied to his posts for some time. But I suppose I did encourage others to not battle verbally with him. I honestly don't think he offered anything to this forum. I welcome varied opinions/views, but when someone is so leftist, so thin-skinned, such a snowflake, there's not much discussion. I remember the first time I posted something about the bad conditions in Chicago, he took it as a personal attack. I didn't even know he lived there.

BTW, just for the record, I've never created alternative logins. I'll say my piece, if 1 person or 100 or zero people agree with me, I do not need popular opinions to stroke my ego.

But I do welcome more discussions. I try to start many conversations that I know we view differently. Sometimes it is to stir discussion, and some are to share my opinion (agree or not, my opinion is my opinion). But the more topics we have, the more we learn.

Basically every 250 seconds a 'resident' is leaving the state of Illinois. Maybe toexist is one of them, returning to London? Not that I wish him on England, but better than here.

Look at the article, some great graphs/data. Illinois can claim to be #1 in the nation: the state with the worst population growth of any state. I suppose Puerto Rico would be worse if it were a state, but 70% of people in PR still don't have even basic electricity to their house... it takes that to be worse than Illinois????

I had said back when the state jacked up income taxes by 33% that people would leave in droves; nailed it! I suppose their actions actually proved Trump's plan will work!

I remember a few years ago a missile silo went up for sale in Illinois. I think it only went for $150k? I would have bought it in a heartbeat... if it were in just about any other state.

The last "conversation" I had with him before putting him on "ignore", he did nothing but hurl unfounded accusations at me when I disagreed with him, calling me every vile thing he could think of. When I took apart his argument, instead of conceding (which he is apparently incapable of doing), he just resorted to name calling like a 6 year old. At that point I had no interest in listening to him anymore.

lol see he's still stirring conversation... You guys are all unique and pose your own problems for me but, I wouldn't change it. It keeps life interesting. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching most of this transpire. Also being your moderator I get to see all the wonderful reports and complaints that get filed.. Personally, I've had YEARS of forum mod experience (not a mod here), so his actions were pretty tame compared to what I've dealt with in the past, so I really had no problem with him, and actually enjoyed how he'd fire folks up a bit, lol. I tended to agree with him on many topics, even if I disapproved of the WAY he went about discussing them.

I think the big thread about non-christians being deplorable is a good example of how folks can disagree and debate a topic, without getting into personal attacks and downright disruption (unless you include his posts, lol). Even though we disagree, I'm sure Texasfreedom and I can still discuss prepping topics with complete civility, and with no hard feelings on either side (I'd hope)....lol.
