Black Friday 2024 deals

While I HATE shopping in stores, I don't mind doing some comparison shopping or just looking for deals on line. So that's what I have been doing for the past few days. I'm thinking that I wouldn't mind having another B&D battery vacuum for "just in case" because I like the one we have so much & I'd have a spare battery. And my wife suggested replacing our regular coffee maker & K cup maker with a single unit that does both.

The coffee maker search has turned up some interesting results (on Amazon btw). It seems that the one I'm looking for, no matter what I put in the search line, doesn't come up. Somehow I feel like I'm being manipulated by Amazon. Just thought that I would point it out to others.

Black friday here lasts for about a week, but really is a bit of a scam. For instance, two weeks back my son bought a desk from Amazon for 30 straight price- this week its 47 before any deal.
However I managed to get a decent online deal on a laptop for son in college by combining a 'deal' and my own student card for extra discount. Got 250 off- He can have it for Christmas. Planning on also combining student card with BF deals and points card in large chemist here, (drugstore) to stock up on cod liver oil and over the counter anti inflammatory and cold/flu tabs. They've doubled in price since covid- a pack of twelve is now 13quid.

Weedygarden I've found that people are fully or maybe I'm just strange. I love to hear about product that do a good job & don't cost a lot of money. Mostly though I read about people praising expensive items. To me that's like saying look at me I can afford something like this. I just want the best "thing" that I can get for the money. My great example on that was the handheld Dyson vac we bought. No doubt about it, it was a great little vacuum, but I paid $400 for it on sale. It randomly stopped up, you never knew when it would stop or why it would stop & it totally died after 2 years. That's paying $200 per year just to vacuum your floors & I find that insane. Hell I can pay someone to vacuum my house for about that much. So I replaced it with my little cheapie vacuum from B&D (a company that gets a bad rap because they are compared to much higher cost items). I think that if I go over an area twice, it does just as good of a job as a Dyson. And the battery lasts so much longer that it has the juice to let me do that & then some. I'll never buy another Dyson but I'm going to pick up another B&D vac just to have a spare & to get another battery (which is half the price of the whole unit).

I guess my motto is save money when you can so that you will have extra money so you don't have to cheap out when you want to buy better.

Well last night I found 2 of the deals that I was looking for in a Kohl's add. I ordered both another B&D vacuum (mostly for the battery) & a Keurig Duo coffee makes. The whole thing went smooth right up until I saw where I had to pick them up at......Dallas. In other words, I screwed up. I spent this morning canceling one of the items, can't cancel the other one until it arrives, then I have to call & cancel it. I then ordered "correctly" & those will be shipped to me. And yes, I saved more than a pretty penny.

PS: The keurig coffee pot I see problems with & would have rather had the other Duo which was cheaper. The wife picked the one that I bought. Happy wife, happy life.

I don't know what the black Friday stuff is all about. We go shopping when we need something, and on Tuesday's if possible. The farm/ranch store down south has 10% off for old timers on Tuesday. So we'll be going shopping tomorrow.

I subscribed to Black Friday dot com, and they will release upcoming Black Friday ads weeks early, so you can watch to see what the sales will be. They also go one step further and will post the best sales in all ads.
I normally will hang on for unusual purchases to see if I can get a better deal. Right now, I'm looking for a new 75" TV, since my old clunker is starting to blow out tiles which look like pencil sized dots of white on my screen.

We've have most gifts already picked out for the grandkids. So far we got them some fossils, minerals, a couple books, some $2.00 bills, silver coins, jewelry for the granddaughter, each a safe and $200 deposited in their savings accounts. For their birthdays in February and March we're going to get them each a metal detector plus another $200 deposited in their savings accounts. Every holiday and birthday, and usually monthly, we make a deposit to their savings accounts. We refuse to ever buy them cheap plastic crap made in China. Their other relatives buy them junk from Chinamart.

I had recently convinced myself that I really didn't NEED one, and I'm not super keen on having to possibly deal with rust, but for this price I couldn't pass it up. I had been looking at a 22" model, but this larger 28" one - with a stand even - popped up at an even cheaper price than the 22" models. It only has two burners, which may or may not be an issue for even heat distribution. Personally I don't care about zone cooking much, two zones should be fine for me. I realize this is a lower end Blackstone - only two burners, only one shelf, a metal cover rather than a hinged lid, yada, yada, yada - but for the price I'm willing to give it a shot (seeing as how I had previously convinced myself not to even buy one).

I will now have three grills on my deck - a Traeger pellet grill/smoker, a Weber propane grill, and now this Blackstone flat-top griddle. My two existing grills no longer have covers - those had a limited lifespan and I just never replaced them when they wore out. So I'm off to find a cover for the Blackstone now, since I think it will be critical to keep it well covered given it's nice, flat, rust-loving grilling surface. I will make sure to season it well and keep a protective coat of oil on it. I'm pretty particular about care of my cast iron skillet, and I'll treat this griddle with the same care as that.

That's a nice griddle. We've had a Blackstone, the 48" model, for several years now. Never had a rust problem yet. I bought a cover for ours. It's well worth the price.

I got the 22" model, your's is priced much better. But my stand is a seperate peice and overall light enough to put in the camper and take with us.
Cooking on it is much different than a grill, so plan on a learning curve. I'm still on mine. But you can do a lot of different dishes oh them.

That's what I was initially looking at. A tabletop/portable grill, with a stand to put it on. Not that I was planning on doing much traveling with it, but I figured a tabletop grill would be built more solid. The one I ended up with has the heating parts built into the stand. And the griddle just kind of sets on top as best I can tell (I downloaded the user manual so I could see how it goes together). So if the base/stand holds up on mine, I'm good. But if that half of the grill craps out or falls apart, I'm screwed.

Something this cheap, bought from Walmart, does raise some red flags for me. But I figured I can take delivery of it, check out the quality of the parts once they're in hand, and if it looks like trash I can return it to a nearby Walmart retail store within 90 days. I did check out the model number Walmart lists, and that model number is shown on the Blackstone website and you can download the manual. So it looks like it might be a "regular Blackstone" and not some cheapened-down version made special for Walmart at a lower quality and cheaper price. I guess I'll find out when it gets here and I can get a good look at it. None of the stores here have this grill in stock. None of them. It appears to be online only. Hmmm... But on the positive side, it IS only $147, and it IS returnable within 90 days. We'll see if I shot myself in the foot buying from Walmart or not. It's supposed to get here on Thursday (are these poor delivery people actually having to work on Thanskgiving???)

You and @Mountain trapper both said you weren't having problems with rust. That's good to hear. You see reports of rust on the internet. But that hopefully is just coming from idiots who don't take care of their stuff. Also, I did look through the Users Manual, and the griddle really does "just set on top" of the burners in the stand (on this particular model at least). It's not bolted down. So after cleaning and oiling the griddle after cooking, it could be picked up and taken inside and put in a box until the next use, if that becomes necessary.
