I've been to most of the places portrayed in Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? The "road to Itta Bena" (Highway 7) is about 5 miles from our land in the Delta.

Here is Robert Johnson singing about the place where he sold his soul to the devil in order to be a great guitarist.

My oh my how things changed in 30 years; Robert Johnson to Cream. Both clasics in their own right.

I think Clapton actually went to Rosedale. He spent a lot of time in the Delta going to blues concerts and studying the origins of the blues. Going down to Rosedale (to get on the train) was a metaphor for escaping from poverty.

I don't know how I missed this thread the first time around. Maybe we should revive it. There is so much good blues being played, by people who make their living going city to city playing shows for 500 people at a time. I love to support them. Here's one of them:

Little places down by the Backwater I would say if you were a kid like me in the delta towns from Greenwood, to Greenville Clarksdale to Rosedale on the Mississippi or Louisiana side of the river You knew of the places where people gathered and Things went on.

I knew of but when I went with some family backin the 50s and early 60s to park at the head of the path you could get out and sneak down toward the little buildings and get a little glimpse of reality, HEHEHEHEH.
