Out of curiosity, I decided to check the Solar Activity during the period of the strong earthquake that hit the Philippines last October 15, 2013 (October 14, 2013 there) on the assumption that Solar Radiation does have an effect on the molten lava under the earth's crust (there is an ongoing debate regarding this in scientific communities worldwide. Some say Yes, some say No.)
I noticed that during that time. there was significant Solar Activity particularly on the days of October 9-20 with M-Class SFs and a peak of activity coming in October 15, 2013 (Russia time: http://www.tesis.lebedev.ru/en/sun_flares.html?m=10&d=15&y=2013) with strong activity on the 14th and 16th.
What's your take on this?
