Apparently he was on the police watch list and was being closely followed because he had only been released from prison on terror offences last week. As soon as he kicked off the police closed in and shot him dead.

it wasn't a machette, apparently it was a £3.99 kitchen knife he stole from a high street store, he then stabbed 2 or 3 people, one was a woman who he STABBED IN THE BACK! damn coward!

Kate, your are absolutely correct. If they had been able to defend themselves, it may not have happen. You don't bring a knife to a possible gun fight.

Whilst I do agree with you I would point out that you chaps have hundreds of stabbings and shootings every day in the US but the number of armed citizen interventions is very very few ( and usually under reported by the anti gunners)

I live near Fort Benning. Many of the residents of this city are retired or former military. That fact makes the crooks extremely apprehensive about confronting citizens. They operate as stealthily as possible, LOL. I've described the crooks here as being "very timid."

It is not the actual number of armed interventions that matters so much as the fear of armed interventions. It does change their behavior.
