I like the good natured rivalry, honestly.

Full disclosure, while my Grandparents immigrated to the US from Hungary, and my parents can still speak Magyar, my middle name is Sinclair, and comes from a Scottish Sinclair who moved to Hungary in the 1800's, and married a woman in the Szabo family. There has been a male family member with the middle name "Sinclair" ever since, at least in my family line, and until my son was born, I was him.

So I do have a distant, but ancestral connection to the Isles.

Having said that, I hope we all remember that we are brothers. Screw the history books, on both sides of the Atlantic. Historically, we have fought against one another once, and together many times. We both live in former Military and Financial Empires that are going through changes as technology makes the world smaller, and the challenges more global than local.

I served with a couple Brits, rural guys with TERRIFIC accents, lol, and great senses of British humor, and it was a pleasure. Unlike the Turks, who would smile to your face, then steal your **** the second you turned your back. Sorry, but it's true, and not an isolated incident, they were famous for it.

If there is a ever another world war, I'm 100 percent sure that the US and Britain will be on the same side.

And, I'm looking forward to spending some time in Britain, and Scotland some day. I appreciate the British folks on here talking, it will help me interact better when I get over there, and maybe I can ask around for places to avoid, and good places to check out. That's years from now, though.

My wife attended college in Scotland, and loved it there. Honestly, I can't wait to go and spend time in the country side.

Prepping first.

Politics second.

If I saw someone who was clearly a local Londoner, being harassed by some 3rd world trash, I wouldn't stop to ask their party affiliation, and I would hope it would be the same for any of us.

Sinclair is a scots name but remember the Haggis munchers are very tribal and clannish AND SECTARIAN as they come.

Take a piece of solid proven advice if you (A) Want to see the REAL UK (B) Stay Safe (C) Not get ripped off. STAY AWAY FROM LONDON, its about as genuine as Hollywood is to Heartland America.

We drive on the other side of the road and our cars are normally stick shift
Fuel is about $10 to $12 a gallon
Railways CAN be cheap but ONLY if you book 12 weeks in advance.

The best way to see the US is by Motorhome / RV NOT HUGE FERKIN GREAT WINNEBAGOS Get them about the size of Econolines or slightly bigger.

Don't use tourist hotels generally for GOOD value for money use Premier Inns as they are universally good quality and always have a good resteraunts attached.
UK food portions in fast food joints are smaller that the US.
Our taxis drivers will bleed you dry if you are not careful,.

You cannot arm yourself with anything cept perhaps a Multi Tool, Hiking pole or compact tactical flashlight or tactical pen.... FFS don't dress like a damn tourist you will attract beggars, pick pockets and bigots like flies around a turd. Dress like a hiker or frequent traveller

No exposed bling from Rolexs, To gold chains to Oakey shades etc

Your Wallet / Billfold / Cell phone wifes Purse/ Clutch / Handbag DO NOT GET OPENED ON THE STREET. Pay with credit cards not AM EX and never hand your card to them, let them bring the card reader to you, or you go to it DONT FERKING HAND IT TO THE STAFF.

Bags like bum bags, day sacks etc fanny packs GO ON YOUR FRONT never your back. If in a large city certain predatory types may enquire " are you a yank?" No you are Canadian.

If you go wandering around the SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS ( not England, Ireland or Wales you need INSECT REPPELENT cos the tartan midgies will eat you alive.

Your credit cards and passports and medical insurance needs photocopying and you NEVER leave em in hotel rooms

Its generally cheaper to fly into the UK at a regional air port instead of Thiefrow or Gatwick.

Your best only booking hotels from the US for the first few days then booking when you are here for the rest of your stay as its normally cheaper. AND I have never met a Merkin tourist who is happy with their planned itinerary after 48 hours and want to change things.

REAL Britain is not found in London or Edinburgh or in Musuems

Your beer is our lager
Our beer is actually ale
Irish and English Whiskey is smoother than Scotch but not as smooth JD or SC from the US

Oh God, dead man walking (1) There are very few Londoners in London any more, in 13 of the Boroughs English in now a minority language. (2) Contrary to popular state propaganda there ARE no go areas and plenty of people of certain faith who would love to kill a Merkin for fun. Ever heard of WHITE FLIGHT? It started in Chicago and Detroit but London soon caught up. (3) if you get into a fight in London I guarantee you it will be you versus a mob, everyone else will just video you (4) The Met Police WILL nick you as its easier than them nicking criminals STAY OUT OF LONDON.

"HELL NO!!! I'm no DAMNED YANKEE!!!"

You know, I grew up in the red part of this map, in Illinois. "Greater Appalachia"

Now, I am in "yankeedom" , 4 years now gawd, and I can tell a difference. I always thought it was a myth, or a stupid insult when I was in Tennessee or Florida, but it is actually kind of a real thing. Here, when I tell people where I grew up, they think I'm a hillbilly. And I'm not sure they are wrong, lol.

According to the map, I am looking to head to the "far west" in 2020, we will see how I like there.

It's an interesting history. Maybe 150 years ago the US/Britain went from opponents to brothers. Together we saved all of Europe, not once but twice. We worked side by side through multiple muslim wars over recent decades.

Now we both face the same problem of getting eaten from the inside out. Note that those London riots are from 2011.
