I like the good natured rivalry, honestly.
Full disclosure, while my Grandparents immigrated to the US from Hungary, and my parents can still speak Magyar, my middle name is Sinclair, and comes from a Scottish Sinclair who moved to Hungary in the 1800's, and married a woman in the Szabo family. There has been a male family member with the middle name "Sinclair" ever since, at least in my family line, and until my son was born, I was him.
So I do have a distant, but ancestral connection to the Isles.
Having said that, I hope we all remember that we are brothers. Screw the history books, on both sides of the Atlantic. Historically, we have fought against one another once, and together many times. We both live in former Military and Financial Empires that are going through changes as technology makes the world smaller, and the challenges more global than local.
I served with a couple Brits, rural guys with TERRIFIC accents, lol, and great senses of British humor, and it was a pleasure. Unlike the Turks, who would smile to your face, then steal your **** the second you turned your back. Sorry, but it's true, and not an isolated incident, they were famous for it.
If there is a ever another world war, I'm 100 percent sure that the US and Britain will be on the same side.
And, I'm looking forward to spending some time in Britain, and Scotland some day. I appreciate the British folks on here talking, it will help me interact better when I get over there, and maybe I can ask around for places to avoid, and good places to check out. That's years from now, though.
My wife attended college in Scotland, and loved it there. Honestly, I can't wait to go and spend time in the country side.
Prepping first.
Politics second.
If I saw someone who was clearly a local Londoner, being harassed by some 3rd world trash, I wouldn't stop to ask their party affiliation, and I would hope it would be the same for any of us.
