After the fight with a bale of hay in which it won, the kids gone down to the barn to figure out what and how it happen.

What I used was an old antiquated 4 arm grabber that are set with two levers and released by rope, the grabber is on a chain block mounted to an I-Beam, on my last bale I set the levers to the grabber and gone down the stairs, once I was in place I pulled on the chain to move the bale over the trailer, while pulling the chain I must have inadvertently pulled the rope just enough to release one set of arms (short pull) causing the bale to sling-shot towards me from a height of 20 feet (roughly) I didn't see what had happen given I only had one light on below in pitch darkness, I should have remained on the loft for my last bale. The bale grabber is a two person job with adequate lighting!

I have done this by myself for so long complacency set in, bottom line, my fault 100%

I'm a glass half full type guy.

Maverick 1 - Bail of Hay 0

One day you will laugh about it.

It's kinda funny how life works. We prepare for life's worst imaginable emergencies but then we get taken down by bails of hay or falling icicles.
Life is funny.

Your family knows you all too well which is why they have hidden those keys. You, please listen to your doc and family. . . I know you are a stubborn old man who thinks he knows what is best and thinks he's right all the time. ;) Don't give them a reason to keep you hog tied. Really hope it doesn't take the full 6 month and you heal up sooner than expected. Just don't over do it and enjoy all the extra TLC you are going to be getting.

All is good, tired and bored things hurt a little worse so I know things are healing, sleeping in the recliner to help me breathe better, I refuse to take pain pills so much of the pain is of my doing. Going out in the cold affects me more right now and brushing my teeth sucks, getting up at 5:30 for the past few mornings Vs 3:00 seems so out of place for me. I’ll been in and out on the forum for a bit making periodic updates.

Aren't we supposed to take things a little easier as we get older? Yeah right, me neither. Back in July I was doing something that I shouldn't have been doing and dislocated my shoulder and elbow. I reset it myself but my arm was mostly useless up until a few weeks ago. The pain was mostly gone until I fell off the roof last week when I was putting out the chimney fire. Just an FYI, snow isn't as soft as it looks.
Take care of yourself Mav and get back in the saddle as soon as you can.

Being a recliner baby for the time being with one arm, I'm certainly not a custom to spending so much time on my back... my back itches and trying to scratch the back is a challenge, I believe the wife got tired of me complaining anyway she came back from town with a telescoping back scratcher from 8in to 24in. Pain is subsiding and breathing easier though still unable to cough so the daughters check my lungs for fluids every day, I did get a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine when I first gone to the hospital. While I appreciate the meals the kids cook up for me I really don't like this pampering thing one bit and I'm quickly reminded (told) hold your tongue and smile.

Good to hear from you old man! Sorry to hear how banged up you are, but at least you’re still kicking.

My son loves "Rear Window" when Jimmy Stewart has the full cast. He had to have a scratcher just like him.
