Then they should have consequences. Not there consequences for everyone else. When have the masses demonstrated the ability to show self control?

So who is going to decide what someone "needs"? I'm sure that I have some things that some people might think are excessive. But what I buy or have is nobody's f#!$ing business.I mean if people really want something that is non essential then they should be taxed at an extortionate amount. The main problem of capitalism is that it has turned humans in to consumers of crap we don't need and that causes excess waste which despite what some people believe does damage the environment.

No inheritance?!? So what happens to the millions that I have worked and saved for? Under your system I wouldn't be allowed to leave it to my kids, or my dog? I think there are already perfect systems in place for peole such as yourself. Cuba, China, N Korea, Venezuela come to mind. This thread was started about punishing the wealthy. I am not in favour of punishing people who are successful. I was just suggesting an alternate way to make a sustainable economy. One other option could be to give all newborn an equal number of credits, say 1 million and you can spend it how you like through your life but when it has all gone you won't get a penny more. That would teach some self control. If some make more along the way then good for them, if some 性交 it up then tough luck. No inheritance, just reset the clock.

Conservative people don't want to discuss socialist / communist ideas they are happy with what they have, you forcing the discussing will cause the reaction, because they are fed up with socialist / communist ideas being forced down their gullets.I post for discussion not because i believe it would be the solution but it seems people like to respond with personal attacks.

No personal attack intended. I was mearly pointing out that there are already countries around the world that have a system in place for the "solution" that you mention; communism. The communist system kills any incentive for a person to strive for success. It destroys ingunuity, creativity and inventiveness. No thanks. For all its "problems" the capitalist system in still best system by far.I post for discussion not because i believe it would be the solution but it seems people like to respond with personal attacks.
So you don't need to reinvent the wheel, you need to fix the broken spokes, and smack the buggers (government) who keeps sticking sticks in itI agree competition breeds innovation and creativity but there are negative aspects to the systems we use in the West too. One of the main problems is greed and how sustainable it is. With regards to the original post, the taxing of successful people obviously isn't the solution. Western governments do collect enough tax revenue, in fact they collect way more than they need to provide quality services. The problem is too many bureaucrats, corruption, waste and money spent on none essential services, for example in Europe the tax payer would pay for things like gender reassignment while not having enough funds to provide quality basic medical services. One other issue I have is with state aid and subsidies for companies. While these may create jobs for people it creates an unnatural marketplace.

The greed still exists in communism and socialism. , it's just limited to the ruling elites.
