Had I the knowledge and the means, I would consider it a worthwhile endeavor. When it was new, I would have been too young to drive it, but (assuming it is from the 40s) old enough to admire it.I would take it. Make it run and drive it as is until I had funds to make it pretty again.
I once owned a 1947 Chevvy - 2-door sedan. It was, um, significantly rusty.
That '50 Olds (and Caddy too) was a little too much car for the 6 volt electrical system in a Vermont winter. Good looking though.
