Yup, he was about out of gas...
That was a problem all of the big Dodges shared that nobody talked about.
If you got 10mpg, you were tip-toeing around, 8mpg was more normal.
The Carter carburetors were brutal on your wallet.
And if you floor-boarded it, you could actually watch the gas-gauge move o_O .
Most Mopars had black soot on their back bumpers. (not something you wanted to see at the end of the race:().

Okay, so this is not a whole car.
Two reasons, one I hope you can focus on just the motor. Two it's an ordeal just to uncover the car.
When I'm not out in the field cutting concrete I'm building this car for my boss. This has been a 20 year project. Everything you see has been hand fabricated and or body worked. More pictures later.View attachment 43143View attachment 43144View attachment 43143View attachment 43144

348 3 deuce. The car is a 1961 Impala. Still not sure when or if photos are in post. The only thing on the motor that is not done is the air cleaner. Still have to Tig it up. The owner doesn't like cluttered engine compartments, so I hid all the wires, except for the plug wire's. Though I did make the holders.
When it's done you will only see the upper radiator hose. The heater and ac hoses will be nearly hidden under the fender.
I built all the lines, fuel, brake etc.
The AC & alt brackets were made to look cast.
He didn't like carb linkage that was " busy" so I redesigned it.

The red Impala is one we helped the guy pull out a 348 and replace with the 409. The one under the cover is the one I'm doing. Lotta money in those four engines
