Thanx, it is my pride and joy. With a chicken coop, pig pen, wine grapes and wine cellar. Since 2017, the laws have been changed to get the bad quality of moonshine
off the market. Now, everybody! may make their own moonshine, up to 50 liters can be on hand at one time for own use. Over the level is really expensive fines. I am waiting for a judgement from the courts here against the Workers Union. After an on-the-job accident, I might be able to go into early retirement and leave Germany...GP
But then you'd have to leave your house to people who might not appreciate its awesome-ness. The moonshine making sounds pretty great though. As long as you drink it regularly enough you won't have worry about going over the limit, right?

Sorry if I didn't explain right.... I am living in Germany and want to retire to my HOUSE in Hungary! I only have a condo in Germany with a well stocked cellar. This dream house is where I want to retire to. Thanks for worrying for me KMTx. GP

Lucky sod, there is quite a few Brits who also have homes in places like Hungary and Bohemia enjoying off gridding homesteading life styles.

I can't even drink 50 liters a year...but the idea is nice to think about, besides, you can barter with that which you don't/can't drink. GP

Yes, there is a Brit not far from me, name is Neal, bought a house about 8 km away and rebuilt it like I did. He is about 300 meters from the Danube. We get along well when I go back to work on the house, seems we both have problems with the Jehovahs Witnesses...GP

EVERYBODY has problems with the J.W.'s....gotta be the most obnoxious people on earth.

The last time they showed up, they got my 14 yr old daughter crying. The wife told me about it when I got home that nite. IT JUST SO HAPPENED, I came home the next day on the Harley, wearing my colors from the Gypsys and the worm and woman were walking away from my yard....
I honked to get their attention, as the worm turned around, I stopped with my front wheel between his legs and the headlight 3 inches from his poor family jewels. Asking nicely if they had any memory of where Jesus had mentioned that "if anyone does anything to one of these children, it would be better that a millstone was hung around his neck and he was dropped to the bottom of the ocean" end of quote. Kinda looking into his eyes, I think he got the idea. After I said that if he or anybody else EVER comes to my house and makes anybody in my family cry again, I was gonna make Jesus' words come true. Looking into his eyes, I then knew he got the idea, kinda personally...

First, I do not like and cannot tolerate the taste of alcohol (even wines) so making moonshine had never even entered my mind but this posting by GP sure makes the start thinking. Maybe make a few gallons of the stuff just to have around for bartering. After a short period of time, an alcoholic will be willing to barter most anything for a drink. Just make sure you have a limited supply because, in time, that same person may decide to try to take it if they think you have a large supply.

Another approach for alcohol (spirits) is that it last much longer than rubbing alcohol as a antiseptic as for storing.

That is the way to prep JackDW. Learn from us and teach us all. In Croatia and Bosnia, I heard from 2 soldier/family situations where they bartered with the alcohol they had found in a bombed out and ransacked distillery. All the -bottled- alcohol was gone, but the tanks and pipes still had a lot left in them which could not be taken so fast. Coffee was being sold for 20 German Marks for 100 g. Cooking oil was going for 30 GM for 1 liter. You could (sadly enough) get a woman for a bar of chocolate or a pack of cigarettes. War is never good. They survived by trading and bartering with the hundreds of liters of moonshine. By the way, if you get to know your plants, you can make great coughsyrups with water and with alcohol. I have several recipes which we use for years now if you would like to try both. Live free, GP

Thank you KMT, you will be the first to know if the courts will finally decide in my favor. The pre-decision is already in my favor, the judge advised the Union to settle
out of court. They have been thinking about it since the 9th of JULY...I hope, I hope, I hope...GP
