DW use a Britta filter for all drinking water, coffee tea & lemonade.

We use a Brita for our cats' second water bowl upstairs. We use a Berkey for everything else even the pets' main water bowl in the kitchen.

If the coffee is super burnt/acrid tasting, I like to make it super strong with only half the usual water, and add some heavy cream. I think that's probably my favorite coffee flavor. Actually, I think the best coffee flavor is milk or cream with a TON of decaf instant coffee, and then your tsp of caffeinated instant coffee, then maybe some sugar or maple syrup in there....

But 9 times out of 10, I brew it black, which I thought was inconceivable until after years of watching my wife drink it that way.

I buy my coffee in bulk from here, I think it's the best ever (comes to $11.50 per lb).

And this is the brewer I use, its price is higher than usual right now, but I honestly think this thing makes the best coffee.

Tom Hanks character in “You’ve Got Mail”

The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf. Cappuccino.

Does that qualify as coffee?
NO! But let them drink it, it is better than Gen. Z on alcohol!;):rolleyes:
This is from the guy who drinks coffee flavored milk.

I made some Black Rifle Coffee the other day. My teen daughter wanted to try it. She's never had coffee before. I made it a little lighter than I normally would, and I thought it actually tasted better that way. She took one sip and backed up, shaking her head and saying "No, no, NO!" 😂 Guess I don't have to worry about her raiding my stash...

Camp pot, Keriug, Automatic coffee pot 12 cup and 5 cup.
Which with the size of my cup will be 2 cups.
Straight up black.
Let me guess!

Were you one of those NCOs that had a bent index finger from carrying a cup of coffee around?
;)

I down 16 oz when I get up but if I have anymore after that I get the shakes then can't sleep.

Yes, Sir.
Doesn't bother my sleeping.
Don't clean or wash my cup.
Don't touch my coffee pot.
Grounds for court martial;)

I had a supervisor, who's cup had a stain in the top half of the cup, one night he was not at work.
So we filled the cup with hot water & Ajax cleaner, let it sit for 6 hours, then washed it.
I never heard a word about it. Grounds for dismissal, but no one told, so we got off lite.

I drink about 24 oz of coffee most days, but I can go with out also.
DW says it does not matter whither drink coffee or not I am still a bear until I am awake.
She a bear killer, so I do not bother her.

I caught the training coordinator washing my mug one morning. Since she was not in engineering, i couldn't take any action but I did make it clear to her to never do that again invoking references to the seven dwarves and pointing out that no self respecting bio organism grows in coffee...

That cup retired with me and has a place of honor on the shelf above my desk.

I'm still drinking from my cup.
But the coffee pot, cup retired with me.

Love my morning coffee--but does anyone have a plan if SHTF and coffee is no longer available?

A 357 magnum! ;)

I've got the little keurig cups I use in the morning, cans of coffee stored, a manual Zassenhaus grinder and percolator and my dandelion crop is thriving :)

Just hope you don't have to resort to Chicory.gaah
We did.
Wikipedia said:
In the United States, chicory root has long been used as a substitute for coffee in prisons.[58] By the 1840s, the port of New Orleans was the second-largest importer of coffee (after New York).[57] Louisianans began to add chicory root to their coffee when Union naval blockades during the American Civil War cut off the port of New Orleans, thereby creating a long-standing tradition.
The taste never goes away.

I have a 14 year old who thinks it is her job to drink my coffee if it is not in my hand. She sticks her head in the cup and laps it up black/with cream whatever!

Try ordering a Quad Compana in a venti cup with whip to the top.

I use to order this because a shot of espresso was a quarter back in the day (GOD! I'm old!). The whip mixed into the espresso turned the drink in to a mellow cup of 'normal' coffee.

My 3 year old grand daughter does that.
But with no cream, no sugar.
Matter of fact she has her own coffee cup.
And it might hold half of thimble worth of straight up Army style black coffee.;)

(GOD! I'm old!), It beats the alternative!
I started at eight years old, I stopped all tea & coffee for six months in 2019, was surprised at how easy it was to stop. I still drink decaf tea, but coffee is just fine.
