Back in my ambulance days, one of my drivers was also a cop. He told a story of how one time they went to the local Chinese restaurant for some disturbance. They didn't see any cats or dogs, thank goodness. Just chickens. Unfortunately, those chickens were hanging on clotheslines out back. They told the owner that refrigeration is required in the US. I assume the health department made sure he had a refrigerator inside ... (the owner probably just didn't know what it was used for)
I have no doubt that people who immigrate from anywhere, especially non Europeans, are not familiar with health codes. When I used to watch television and the news, the reports about the restaurants with failing scores were usually Asian restaurants. They are also the restaurants that think they can take their wait staffs tips. It is common in Asian restaurants and then they do not report the cash on their income.

I make pancakes every couple of weeks or so for supper and only from scratch.

If I use a mix, there is something about it that makes me feel sick for days. I don't know if it is an allergy or what. I also get the same symptoms from frozen corn dogs and can't eat them any more.

Anything I can get in a mix, I can make easily and cheaper from scratch.

What she said! ;)

I had a student who would vomit every time there were corndogs served in the lunchroom. As soon as she vomited, she felt much better. The interesting thing was that one of her friends pointed out to her that they always made her throw up. My guess is that she was allergic to something in them.

Honestly, I have no memory of ever eating a corndog. I might have at some point in time, many years ago, but I have no memory of it. I do eat hot dogs once in a while, but really not often. I don't eat a package a year and probably had many years of no hot dogs. They definitely have to be kept in my freezer if I have any. On the other hand, I have a brother who has more than eaten my share.

We keep a good amount of store bought can goods, it is easy & they are cheap.
The best food is fresh, eat the day you pick it.
I went to my B I L vineyard, we went down to the pond & caught fresh catfish, picked sweet corn, green snap beans & dug red potatoes.
We cooked them for lunch, the corn mill for the corn bread was store bought, but made from scratch.
This is why I garden, everything else is cream.

I absolutely love hotdogs and cornbread too, but not both at the same time. I pass on corndogs...
You've never eaten a hotdog fritter.
Pretty basic, run 4 hot dogs through a processor and add them to your cornbread mix and pan fry them like a hush-puppy,
you can even add onions and peppers.
great sports snacks.
