If you have questions about Switzerland just post them here. I or Mountain Dragon can answer some of your questions for sure, at least the ones where we have a clue. We live in different mountain valleys and have experienced a lot in our life in this hard mountain area and during the army service time in the mountains. Even if we two have prepared independently of each other on some things still separate us the mountains and if it comes to a crash we must go willy-nilly our own ways, but that's just life.
For those who have questions about the "famous" Swiss artillery bunkers in the Swiss Alps, I have to say that 95% of these installations have been cleared out, shut down or walled up and with that a large part of Swiss history and the myth of the country has been carelessly eliminated.
I can not approve of how good infrastructure was destroyed without further ado, but one is also here of the view that there is never again war, but history teaches us otherwise.

For Switzerland, my only thought would be to ask if you are at least a rifle's range away from your nearest neighbors. Anything closer can be a problem. In that sense you're no better off than people elsewhere dealing with this irritating sand! Who knew, you'd have sand issues in the beautiful mountains of the Swiss!

What are guns? Your need an permission to purchase an gun over here. Needs an police report, and after you bought it the police will be informed when, where and what kind of gun you own now. Every singel gun ist registratet. Not allowed are those who are fun really like automatic guns, any kind of army guns and don't even think about an Gaitlin.... And there's no way to get an magazine with more than 10 bullets. Forget as well for lasers or silencers.

Yes. We're not (allowed) to talk negative about it (otherwise you're an Nazi or rassism). So we feed them, pay an appartment, clothes, mobile phone and an amount of money every month (which is more than the minimum support for own citizens). We educate them as well.
Indeed we're absoluty thankfull to get stronger weapon laws because some peacefull guests like to stab people.
But guess it's like in other countries too: Many would like to help them to find their way home. Don't missunderstand - we seriously like to help those who really needs help. But to many troublemakers came in.

Then you would be in troubles over here except your rifle is an paintball-rifle. Forget about shooting in your own garden - you'll get to know the local police in minutes and they won't bring along cookies.

Hey, don't missunderstand my words!

I love my country and think it's worth to fight for it. Of course it's a lot different here than overseas, have seen myself as i was in the states.
Switzerland is an small place with +/- 8.5 million people (and no, we don't know everyone ). A lot of our land are mountains where's simply impossible to life. The farmlands we need of course too, so the space for building villages or cities is smaller. And when you get smaller places you'll having smaller appartments or houses to life in.
OK, we're having some problems as every country has. Life wasn't gone easier the last few years, more people means more problems and less personal freedom. Unfortunately. But as i can see it's an general european problem. All the socialists and FFF-Fans in the lead dosn't help really to solve it. Especialy the past five years it was gone worse, myself i didn't really realize before entering this forum how worse it gone and how much of the free speaking we lost - by my shame i must say you get to used about it and you get to used about to hide critics and different meanings behind sarcasm and beeing cynical.
Yes, of course we don't have this right for self-defence like the americans have. We don't have an gun-store in the supermarket (geezzzz... remember i was entering an Target-Market once in Nevada.... and was know i couldn't bring home anything ). Otherise we have (or had) a kind of social stability where the most poor or jobless people finding help. And just because it's harder to buy guns it dosn't mean the "hillbillies" are just victims
Swiss are a lot different from the germans, we're to close to Italy and France. And yes, there's an difference between those guys in the cities and those on country-side.

One excuse is as good as any other. People were not created to live packed together like cattle in a barn. For people that continue to live that way, that is their choice and they will get the consequences both good and bad. I think that if you can hit your neighbor's house with a rifle, then it's too close. And I moved 1000 miles to be able to live that way. While I love my home State, I made hard choices to have space. I pray that this won't be a fatal flaw for you, but it is a possibility. Just like I daily face getting bit by a snake or trampled by cows. And I own more guns than I can count, many loaded and spread around my home and vehicles. We make our choices and live with the consequences.

Note that I've had family kidnapped and held for ransom. Granted this was many years ago, but the memory stays. Zero of half dozen kidnappers survived and the family member was recovered safely. I was too young to be part of that. But I will never forget what the family went through over those few days.

How are your gun laws in Switzerland?

Old repeating rifles like K11 and K31 from the time of WW I-II you can buy here with a simple criminal record extract as much as you want, but the extract is valid only 3 months. Even if you buy such rifles, the seller must always report to the police who is now the new owner, but these old rifles do not interest much, or not yet much authorities.
If you want to buy foreign repeating rifles, even old ones, then you need here another certificate, you must then send with a criminal record excerpt your "wish list" of the police where up to three weapons write down and the police then decides whether you are allowed to acquire, if you refuse you do not have to give any reasons.
All semi-automatic weapons, handguns and even foreign repeating rifles fall under this category, which is part of EU Schengen, many countries are even tougher on gun ownership.
For fully automatic weapons you need a cantonal exemption, but you will almost never get it, as you never get a gun license in public, if you do get an exemption for a fully automatic, the authorities visit you every year. Here in Switzerland, the screw is also tightened more and more in terms of weapons, one always refers to Islamic assassins, but the authorities are not interested in your weapons from the black market in the EU.

Mrs. Merkel from Germany wanted all the invaders, then when there were 2 million Mrs. Merkel wanted to divide them all over Europe but nobody really wants them.
Since the invaders or refugees are in Germany, the crimes, harassment of women and dozens of rapes increased very quickly. One denies all this but it is so, nowadays it is for children and women already very suspicious to go in a swimming pool in Germany, the politicians then gave the girls stickable tatoos for on the arms to stick where on it says "do not touch" or something like that, this is not a joke...

The whole thing is very problematic, the refugees go specifically where there is the most money and the latest cell phones, they are very picky and even make demands for accommodation and money. In Switzerland, we still got away with a black eye, but now they are flown in directly from Africa with airplanes. I have nothing against real refugees, but you quickly notice who is a real refugee and who is an economic refugee. If you work here as a native until 65 years, you have less money in the pension available than the, and must pay taxes, housing costs and medical bills themselves while they get everything for free.
If you want to come here from the USA, you should paint yourself black first, it is financially very advantageous.

If you move to Europe I can still recommend Switzerland, I know there are some things here that are not good, in other European countries you will have even less rights and have to go through more. If you want to know what is really **** at the moment then look to Germany what the authorities are doing there because of Corona, there are again old means from the time of the 3 Reich to the train, this time simply organized by the "nice" parties, there you can say absolutely nothing more.
The problem already exists here, but we are fortunately still a little away from these conditions, and there are many here who want it to stay that way.

Yes, the income tax is flat. But we're paying taxes by shopping (OK, you too), paying beside road tax an tax for using freeways, no free parking anywhere (something between 2 and 8 $ by hour, partly even more), not even at shoppingcenters or whatever. If you buy an house or an appartment you're paying an incoming tax for an theoretical incoming by rent out the home you're living in. Pensions are not taxfree further. And from 2021 you're paying an additional tax by oil and fuel. Plus we're having a lot of hidden taxes. And don't forget the living costs in Switzerland are high too.
By example: Fuel, unlead in US$ +/- 2.00 by litre - NOT gallon. Average appartment on countryside, 2 bedrooms, 1 livingroom and kitchen (every room counts - not only bedrooms) in US$ 2500 to 3000 by month. Nothing luxurious, just something normal. Best compare proably: Whopper menue at Burger King in US$ 20.

Yes, our economic freedom is generally free - except during this Covid-19. By all the semi-lockdowns and restrictions more and more business are limited and will close forever.

Good government transparency? Oh really? There i disagree. Corruption is here too and be sure the Government would not talk about topics they don't like.

Our property rights are strong, agree. Stronger than in other countries of course.

Yes of course we're having the best gun laws in europe. Especially since our government toke over the EU-law for weapons (yes, i know it's sarcastic). And please forget this story with the carry permit except you're an police officer. Maybe, really just maybe, you're able to carry any firearm if you're working in the security but you can forget about if you're an average person. Well, poket knives aren't here weapons, they are tools.

Not everything in Switzerland is bad, there are also good things, but it is no longer the dream country here as well. Depending on where you move to you still have advantages. Here in the mountain valley you have some more advantages concerning real democracy, another advantage is that you have enough possibilities to get out of the dust in case of an ultimate crisis. However, you can no longer count on the army to protect you, which is currently only very small and no longer trained for conflict situations.

Lithuania does have "Shall Issue" permits, which means that as long as a person meets the legal requirements, they cannot be denied a carry permit. That is better than eight of the states of the U.S. In Lithuania, you have to carry in "Israeli Carry" mode, meaning no round in the chamber unless it is a revolver.
