Worst prison system in the U.S. I don't believe in coddling prisoners, But I also don't believe prisoners should be held in inhumane prisons, either. When an entire state prison system is declared "unconstitutional" by the Department of Justice it is a pretty good indication the prisons are in horrible shape, and suffer from incompetent staffing from top to bottom.

You get as good of prison and as good of staff as you are willing to pay for. You can't throw pennies at something that takes dollars and expect it to all work out. I know people who work in law enforcement / corrections in the South that could make more money at McDonald's, not to mention get more actual training.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, regardless of whether it is a "Club Med" prison system, or a 3rd world country type of prison.

// End of story //

So much for cruel and unusual punishment, huh?
No the problem is mostly with the system turning prisons over to private companies. No young man or woman should be gang raped and tortured till his term is up who smoke pot or even got hooked on drugs coming across our open borders that is all of our fault for not standing up an fighting it instead of just ' voting for the cons in office.

Drugs have been used for millineiums to take down whole nations, know your history.
Not defending criminals just knowing that many who cause the worst problems benefit the most from the crimes they peomote and defend.
I was around before the drug and crime rampent in this nation nd before it was handed over to the cartels who run it in many cases.
Don't tell me we can kill a so called cult of Americans but can't find the damn cartels and gangs in our streets. Looks to me like the only ones dying are white American criminals, Waco cult, Waco bikers, Ruby ridge, the Hammonds and Bundy's . Why no 250 'foreign 'gang bangers chased down over several states and put under ONE MILLION dollar bonds till they lost homes like they did the Waco Bikers, Bundy's and Hammands ?
Guess they must have been invisible standing around in our streets .

They just need to do thier Robbin and dealing in a adjoining state. Man I am such a problem solver, I should run for office.

With astatement like that maybe you should. Or move out of Sodom and Gomorrah where evil rules now. Oh wait!Thre is no place left to go now that this one is infected too.

You do realize that private prisons represent only 8% of all prison inmates in the US right? Which means 92% of all prisons are run by state or federal gov't. Many private prisons are nicer than state prisons, case in point (read the original post).

In Los Angeles, they claimed our jails were cruel and unusual punishment and the ACLU demanded flat screen televisions, weight lifting equipment, foods for every ethnic and religious group, unlimited visitation, hormone therapy to help them transition into money making women, etc. So, when the prisoners come out of prison, they come our buff, ready to kill again, and with massive breasts so they can make money right away as prostitutes. This is totally absurd. Lock 'em up, give beans, bread and water, and maybe they will think twice before committing another crime.

Bingo.
Prison is supposed to be punishment, not an 'all expense paid vacation'.
As a 'born & raised' Alabama guy, I can tell you life in a trailer-park there ain't wonderful either:(.
Run the numbers on the recidivism rate in 'Bama versus New York of guys getting out of the pen and get back to me:rolleyes:.
Most Bama guys would rather die than go back (as it should be).
Real prisons work.

No I thought or was told most are private owned, so I stand corrected.

I can't stand the ACLU or any of the othrr alphebet liberal sicialist commie gtoups.
I just hate to know how much abuse espeically rape goes on. And how only ones who pay for the foreign ruled crime families are the American youth now. And as I've said I'm glad one of my grands is in prison since she was headed for death if she didn't go to prison.
I don't have the answers for how much change happened but I also don't think its just the youth who pay when we all were complacent ,lazy and busy shopping whilr the nation went to hell.

And I've always said prison shouls be work farms.

While rape does occur in prison, there are plenty of people willing to prostitute themselves and quite a number of people who identify as gay or trans who seek out relationships. Rape occurs but far less than the media portrays. And often times when it does happen it is retaliatory for some offense the rapee committed.

Louisiana ain't no slacker either.
You never hear Angola mentioned any more, right?
You want to see inmates working on a farm raising their own food?
We do that today:

(notice, they're not taking the bus:eek:)

But they do get to have a yearly rodeo:D:

Nobody here is agreeing with the prisons being turned inot clubs . Just that the worst of the criminals rule over the syatem and too many are abused by other criminals. Drugs still plenty inside and the best 'WIVES' are the young white men not the illegals or other minorities.
I think there is something that can be done to stop muh of it.
I also am upset that America allowed the nation to be invaded by foreigners who went after the American youth and then just put all blame on them instead of taking some of the respondibility for not meeting these invaders in the streets years ago when they wer flying their damn flags and making demands on us. Ask NUMBERSUSA or AlIPAC how much help we got. We stood up and we stood alone mostly.
The Minute Men took pictures of LEOs standing watching huge bails of cocain coming in and were told to stand down.
Of course all we can do now is argue with each other because it is looking like this will be the last election America votes for.
I'm just upset and venting mostly.
I keep saying no more politics then I jump right back in.

I am not saying we should turn prisons into "Club Med." Just bring the system into compliance with the Constitution's ban on "cruel and unusual punishment" and I would be satisfied. Courts in other states have refused to extradite Alabama escapees back to Alabama because merely being incarcerated in the Alabama prison system constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. When a prison system is THAT bad, then something needs to be done to correct it.

Oh, I completely agree.
As @havasu said: "don't do the crime".
I hear so much about 'criminal-rights' elsewhere I want to scream.
Everyone wants to turn them into 'victims' that have been failed by society:cry:. Horsehockey!
"The killer had a long arrest record for violent crimes" should never be printed.
BTW, you don't get into Angola for just selling some weed or coke.
Every guy you see walking on the side of that road are VIOLENT FELONS kept away from us for our protection.:waiting:
I don't care if they have flat-screen tv's, or weightrooms, or special food for their religion:rolleyes:.
The most important thing people lose sight of....
They are NOT breaking thru your front door tonight to rob and kill you!

OK, no gyms, no TV or movies unless it is part of the rehab training. No education that is more than vocational training so they can get a job when they leave.
Church is available and they have to maintain them. Reading material consists of religious texts and US history.
Exercise is running, pushups, and sit-ups with no equipment furnished. Time in the "yard" is for recreation and if you injure or intimidate anyone you lose your outside privileges.
If you intentionally injure someone then you are held while that person does the same thing(s) to you doubled. If you kill someone then you are killed by the other prisoners while not being able to resist. You are beaten to death. (no matter how long it takes)
The guards are called SIR or MADAM and treated with absolute respect. Disrespect toward a guard or other official personnel will get your meal rations cut in half for a period of time not less than two days.
Food and water are rationed to match your height and ideal weight. Obesity and underweight will be fixed. Games will be board games that do not involve gambling or betting of any kind. Competitive sports will not be allowed. No news of local, national or world events will be allowed. There will be time every day for meditation on the behavior that sent you to jail and how you can avoid it in the future.
An 8x8x8 cell will hold up to 4 inmates and there will be no violence that goes unpunished in like manner.
There are no early releases and no reduction of sentences except by court order. You will not have any form of money and there is nothing to buy or sell. You have three meals each day and water provided. No gifts from family or friends and visits are for no more than 1/2 hour and are monitored to prevent contact of any kind.
Welcome to jail. Serve your time, learn a trade and don't come back.

How can we treat our own this way then have the nerve to be upset with the gulags and camps Hitler and others ran? Not taking away from them of course but although starvation is cruel the food was all going to the war machines and millions of soldiers died from all sides espeically Rrussia starved to death and dehydrated lack of food and water, but of course none went into the ovens that I know of like the Jews did. Still we need change in our prisons.
