I haven't looked it all over yet either but just the dollar store preps is worth having a look IMHO.

A lot of items in my GHB come from the dollar store.
Best price bet for medical kit items and medicine especially.
Also, a lot of items in WalMart's camping section.

Saw the coolest thing at the dollar store the other day...it's canned hot chocolate, that is self-heating. Some kind of chemical reaction in the packaging. How damn cool is that?

Dont buy the stainless knives on that list i personally bought one just for general purpose use in the kitchen, used it about 5 times and it snapped at the handle and not the handle its self the actual steel of the blade.

Other then that knife i have gotten alot of items from the dollar store that are currently in my kit.

A good start on getting prepped is to have a survival bag. That is what I am working on now. The article can be read here and gives you a good idea on what to put in it. You can put more in your bag if you want like fishing tackle and thread. It's what you feel is necessary in an emergency situation.
