When I eat junk food which isn't often.
I limit myself to $5 and go to Dollar Tree.
You can put together cute little gift for under $10 for kids you don't know well.
Or stocking stuffers, things for the children's gifts box in my linen closet.
But Snappy I like the idea about the fish bowl.
I need birthday gift for 8 year old boy, that I don't know to well.
Fish bowl, gravel, goldfish food from Dollar Tree.
Goldfish and Guppy from Wal*Mart instant 8 year old boy gift.
Thanks for the idea Snappy.

Looks like Dollar Tree is going to start selling alcohol in 1,000 of its stores.

Of course, the real question is, will it be $1.00?
Probably single cans of beer or pint bottles of cheap Boone's Farm type wine...I ain't buying any of it from Dollar tree. I do get things there from time to time.
I like Family Dollar but there's not one near me. Often times I go there because it's the only store in the little towns I work in when I'm traveling...

Our Family Dollar store is in the process closing. It is a nice store. Dollar General is moving into the area.
I used to only go to any dollar stores if I had little or no options. I started going to Dollar Tree when I learned about the boxed shelf stable milk. Of all of the dollar stores, it is by far my favorite.

My little town just got a Dollar General last summer. It's clean and new, and I go there for something about once a week, but things tend to be expensive, especially food. I try to go elsewhere...

If it's the same stuff, only with a 25 cent bump up in price, people will notice. Our Dollar Trees are always packed with people, and I crack up because the one closest to me only has 3 shopping carts, and one of them barely works because it was hit by a car. With all the business they do, you'd think they could buy some. The other Dollar Tree a little further away is next to the Kroger Store. They don't have any baskets, so everyone uses the Kroger baskets they find in the parking lot.
A lot of Dollar Tree stuff is from China, so maybe they can't get stuff that cheap anymore. But if they raise their prices, they will lose business.

yes i have done that once before. maybe i will again.
I have had good luck just walking into the stores and finding it, but I can imagine that I was just lucky. I have often thought that boxed milk would be a great thing for food banks to have to share out. I really like having it in my preps. I am so grateful that someone shared about it here, or the previous hang-out. I can grab a box when I need milk, because I don't often keep it in my fridge.

I bought a bunch of those white candles just without the pictures of them. I modge podged cows and chicks and cute stuff on them and add them to our décor. They are long burning candles. I found boxed milk this week with a year exp. Also loaded up on more lb espresso blocks. Canned bologna and Velveeta cheesy hashbrowns and dehydrated mashed potatoes.
The Dollar Tree closest to me has closed, and the next one I avoid because of all the people begging/hanging out front. I go to one that is by a dog park that I go to, several miles away.

I've been getting the white candles there and try to keep adding some to my stash. The one that I have started going to in the last year NEVER has the white candles, but they have them in dark colors and with Jesus and angels on them. I want white ones! So I asked at the checkout why they never have the white candles? There is a woman who comes in and buys all of the white candles whenever they get them in.

So I was thinking that maybe I needed to order some for myself, along with a case of boxed milk.

But I had a few errands to run, so I went to another Dollar Tree and they had a bunch of the white candles. I got some! When I was being checked out, a woman asked me what I was going to do with the 8 candles I had? I told her that I was going to decorate them and give them for Christmas gifts. I want to modge podge some evergreen trees on them. I do plan on doing that, and giving them to some of my clients in the gift bags I make up for them.

I wasn't going to tell her that I am collecting them for when the lights go out!

I've got a bunch that I modge podged that I really like. One of our daughters worked at a funeral home, and they would charge for candles with the deceased person's photo on them. They were just the Dollar Tree's white candles with the photo printed out on the computer and put on the candle.

I think it would be great to figure out some ways to decorate them.
When I lived in North Dakota and belonged to a fiber art group, we had a booth at Christmas time at a craft fair. I think they might be a good seller, if done well enough.

I think printing out some photos of pets that I care for and decorating them would be a good idea for my clients. But does that seem creepy, as a death memorial or something?

The dollar store closest to us give me anxiety . It's dark, the shelves are crowded all together and high, and there just isn't enough space to walk around. Makes me feel claustrophobic, plus there isn't much there I want to buy that I can't get somewhere else for around the same price. I think last time I bought something at one of those stores ( a different one you have enough room to walk) I bought kitchen plates and bowls.

There are at least 2 or 3 of these srores near me; different chains and names, but the same concept. You can get some good deals on prepping items, but one thing I have found very convenient is their smaller sizes. I know. It costs a dollar (or $1.25 now) so you shouldn't expect as much as you get for full price, but the smaller sizes work great for BOB's or EDC's. When you are planning for a short term emergency, the smaller size is suffucient.

I ordered a box of 12 shelf stable milk. I picked it up a couple weeks ago and just left if in the box. Today I looked at it. The boxes used to be rectangular prisms. These are square prism shaped. The packaging has definitely been updated. This case of 12 will last me a long time. I don't drink much milk, but sometimes like to have a glass at bedtime. Supposedly it helps you sleep better.

I get cards at the $tree - 50 cents each. Picked up 4 today.

I have a question - don't think I've ever bought "shelf stable milk." What is in it?

What is UHT pasteurization?

Heating milk to help eliminate bacteria is called pasteurization. For shelf-stable milk, we use UHT, or Ultra High Temperature, pasteurization. This process heats milk to a very high temperature for a few seconds, which destroys bacteria for a longer shelf life.
https://horizon.com/about-us/what-i...helf-stable milk, we,for a longer shelf life.
I use whole milk & put a pinch of salt in it when I open the container & it never spoils.
You can also keep temp. at 37F, 36F to make milk last longer, but this temp. will freeze leaf lettuce.
UHT will kill bad bacteria & milk enzymes, this is why some people buy raw milk, so they get live enzymes.

I keep shelf stable milk for emergencies. My extra fridge is kept at 34°, it's top shelf is the milk shelf. We drink A LOT of milk, the colder fridge keeps it good. There is four gallons in there now, will be three more after I hit the store for ice storm stock up later. After the 14 hour power outage, that fridge was still at 38°! To stay on the subject, a new Dollar Tree opened in the little town closest to me!😃
