This thread is an indication of what is to come 😆

I guess those of us who aren't "REAL preppers" will just have to fade away

If the "emissaries" that are already here are the norm from there, I can see my ignore list getting a work out 🤔
Oh c'mon now! gaah
When we Talk Firearms 'gun-nuts' invaded, we didn't change the forum into a military place:rolleyes:.
We had our own section to talk endlessly about 'trigger-return springs', that had zero effect on the majority.:)

To be honest, I really don't see homesteading ad prepping being far apart, Homestead life is all about being ahead of the game enough to function. I find it almost impossible to separate the 2
100% agree. If your homesteading you are probably more prepped than many peppers are. Homesteading is living that life every day. Being ready for what may come tomorrow.
To me it really don't matter what it's called, I just call it life and I want to be ready to face the next thing that comes up. If I can learn something new I can use, or even something I should avoid, it just benefits me to listen.

Homesteading is a subset of prepping. Take me for example. I live in the city. I have never been a "homesteader" due to my and my wife's jobs. The cost of buying a homestead near enough to work was prohibitive. However I have always had land that I could move to if necessary. (Bug Out Location or BOL in prepper lingo) and have done much prep for emergencies, so I am a "prepper" but not a "homesteader," not yet anyhow.
BOL1 is on family land and even though it is well developed with all the creature comforts, 3 tractors, etc. the extended family has outgrown it and I no longer consider it a viable long term bug out location. Sure we could survive but it would be really crowded.
Once my wife retires later this year, we plan on moving to "BOL2" which we bought last year with that in mind. And then I will be a "homesteader" and a "prepper." My wife is all excited about the prospect of having chickens. She wants ducks too but I'm not so sure about that...

So, do you have any "ISSUES" with those aspiring to eventually be "REAL preppers"....???? Or should they only aspire to eventually be "Semi-Real" preppers.

I joined a homesteading and country living forum, not a doomsday forum!!
Ah, but im sure in a decade or so "homesteading" will have the same negative kind of connotation as "doomsday prepper". I think the PTB want to rope all self reliance together into to one big category of outsiders and undesirables who don't participate fully in the system.

Personally, I'm of the mindset that 'if it's Time to "hide yer guns" (et al..) ..It's Time to Use Them (and, for-Why the '2A' was written - Warn't for "hunting".. Well, not exclusively, anyway..) 😡

Not proposing - Yet - to Go Forth and smash & burn (like the AntifaZommies, et al  ) and snipe, but.. By Gum, I will Live My Life, and Take Care of MY Family the Way I SEE FIT, and IF that happens to go against yer 'NWO-cartel plans', well... TFB - Go cry to Molech, cuz I don't give a damn. Sure - ya Gotta 'be smart', and don't Go Out, 'poking the hornets nest' (again, Yet..) but..

..If'n When They 'bring it, en masse' (ie: Ruby Ridge, Waco, et al, Large-scale..) well.. Bring yer Drones, Bring yer Hellfires, Bring yer "F-15s" whatever.. Hell, Bring yer Nukes! I Don't CARE, cuz yer gonna Get it, Right Back x 10. ALL of these 'would-be Demi-Gods' are the Same 'Rotting Potted-Meat' as we All are.. which means Mortal. o_O

Meantime, I will live Calmly, Civilly, Productively, and Helpfully. BUT I WILL NEVER 'BOW MY KNEE' TO YOU, OR your 'NWO'! 🤬-Nope.

Alright, enough Piss and ACV for the am ;) (Oh, and "You" does ≠ You, C29.. ;) But I'm sure you already knew that..

Hey that first picture looks like ME!!! HEHEHEHEH.
I was shooting for a double kiss to sink the 9 ball at The Shamrock in McNairy County Tennessee.

But oh yeah Wrong Club That would be Iron Horsemen or Saints.

Now Thats just like the wife in the back with her eyes closed.

The purpose of the DPF is not to give people a warm fuzzy feeling.

In fact it's the opposite - to make them uncomfortable enough to get up and do something.
That doesn't apply to HCL!! It's like all the California people moving to Texas because their state sucks!! Yet they bring their values with them!🙄

These days, our 3 letter governments are paying attention to such keywords. We'd rather fly under the radar.
I have had the black SUVS at my door and search my house.

My friends went to jail for 18 months and 3 years for two "FOOTBALL" cards when DTV went ape **** and the feds went with the money, and it is not a joke or funny, they mean business and don't care \if they leave you dead.

I had a friend that was a drunk, his wife called the cops they called the state and the feds when he told them to go to hell, his 10 year old daughter was in there and would not leave because she Knew they would kill him if she was not there. They said they would not >>>> SHE DID<<<< THEY DID>>> but lost two of their own and called it a good shoot.

So, do you have any "ISSUES" with those aspiring to eventually be "REAL preppers"....???? Or should they only aspire to eventually be "Semi-Real" preppers.
I'm just repeating what someone from the other place said.
I really don't give a $hit what YOU or any other strangers on the internet thinks of me and what I do or do not have.

Just making the point that those from the other place are coming over with their "oh so superior" attitudes about who are "real" preppers and who aren't when its a stupid attitude

That is an excellent point.

They may need a little adjusting- I'm more on SB myself and more into wilderness survival/shtf type stuff than "homesteading and country living" im here for the crossover- but do find myself biting my tongue alot because the context that drives my decisions is different than what's being discussed here usually- I can imagine if one is fully invested in preparing for doomsday teotwawki how their contributions might skew the discussion as their personal interest may not be exactly in line with the forums main theme.

Mods are gonna have their work cut out for 'em I think. Posters should probably make good use of disclaimers for crossover subjects to help keep things objective.

I would ask all that go to Doomsday and see what they are posting.... How would you feel if the circumstances were reversed? And there is a lot to do with a forum that can make sections for the more direct prepper and the way of the more gentle prepping. I know we all believe in conspiracy theories, government going to get you, fiscal is getting horrible for most.

Oh, hostage situation, brought here by force to call us prissy girls in fluffy dresses!🙄
Well Sis instead of the pic of the 4 ladies in the long dresses and hats ( made me think of you, Lady L, Amish, and Weedy sipping sweet tea ) it could a been pics of you in your bikini in the pool. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Sorry just couldn't help myself. I crack myself up sometimes

Pearl you are probably tougher than a lot of the people who are full blown anarchist style preppers.

I know a lot of people who go at it, I am a TNS under any circumstances person I was always that way because I grew up in a Military family with Military on one side and pretty well off Bootleggers, Roadhouse owners, Teamsters, and heavy equipment operators on the other with a lot of people going to jail heavy.

Dad taught ROTC at UT and trained rifle team candidates He had some of the 1980s and 1990s retiring Majors, Colonels, and Generals in his classes and some of the BEST by far marksmen that ever walked the planet.

So there is a line between professional and NOT survivable grades of counterinsurgency and it is finite.

There is a method and a plan for resistance and for death.

I do not judge anyones methods outright, or opinions but each person must choose their plan and method and be allowed to do so.

You can give everyone a Gun, Explosive, Poison, or any deadly method of self protection and train them completely in its use and some will not deploy it to save themselves.

That brings you to the point of all of this, If you "Black Arts" train someone and they have never had trial by fire, depending on them will get everyone on your team killed.

I for one will probably read most of the stuff from the new group, may not post much, BUT the learning experience will be more on the Homesteaders side by reading and absorbing and planning the things needed to stop groups from taking everything you build to maintain in a SITUATION.

The Southern people in the Civil war were blind sided by the complete lack of tenets displayed by the northern troops as they were invaded, it fostered a super hatred of all things northern and brought millions of farmers, sharecroppers and laborers into the war because of personal tragedy.

That is what Homesteaders can and need to learn from Preppers.

But a wandering prepper cant exist with no place to light, do you take it or ask for it?
That is the JOSIE WALES question, "Live with you or die with you".

MLW on this.

Let me repeat.

The ignore option will hide all posts from members we don't like. It is the next best thing to making them go away.

One concern I do have is the possibility of "toxic masculinity" driving the lady folks away. H&CL would suffer greatly if we lost the ladies.

Additionally I would hope the newcomers introduce themselves.

What will happen with stats? Most posts and reaction count? Will members of both forums get lumped together?

Will merged threads show up as having been updated?

Ben

Well, some of the most "EXPERIENCED" (By both professional training & "Boots in the FIELD") on the Subject of Prepping for Survival are here on HCL currently.

If they have good solid knowledge I will embrace them. If they are regurgitating flawed typical "internet prepping BS" and Canned flawed thinking on the subject, woe be unto them.

I really cannot see how adding an evidently failing forum (or why else would they be moving?) to a successful forum is going to improve the successful forum?

When I add mud to my chocolate pie, it lowers the quality of my chocolate pie....if you catch my drift.

I guess that I am going to change my forum avatar so the new doomsday aliens crossing our southern border will not think that I am so gentile.

Yeah, I thought maybe you had some super secret chat room for gun nuts. Some of the categories are overly broad to be really useful. Too many things get jumbled together. I mean, you could have a dozen categories for reloading alone.
