I know we had a thread about non electricAL tools and gadgets we would be needing. I cant find it in the archives. I don't know if this has been listed, but a needle and thread is essential. I have a sewing machine too, but if the electricty goes out, it will be worthless.

I'd love to get my hands over this..

foot pedal and strong enough to go through heavy canvas....

My grandmother had an old Singer with the foot oedal, but dad sold it for whiskey. Lol
Aww... that's a shame. I would love to get my hands on one of those old Singers. My grandmother (dad's mom) had one and my mom got it when she passed. She ended up trashing it and keeping the old cabinet part and she stored her electric in it for years. I am not sure what she did with it when she remodeled the house. She got rid of everything in order to get all new things and I mean everything from all the vehicles (except one), the tools in the garage, all the way down to the plastic storage containers in the kitchen. I keep a look out at the swap meets but have only been able to find the stand part.

It wouldn't be as stylish as that, but it wouldn't be too hard to make a pedal system to run some of the electric machines. With some scavenged bicycle parts you could 'people power' a lot of things that use motors now. For me it would be a lot easier to adapt one over than to learn to use it!
