Microwaves tend to turn themselves off when you open the door. Which is probably a good thing. However, safety locks are overboard. What's next? Locks on the hot water faucet in the kitchen? Locks on the freezer door (it can get pretty cold in there)? Locks on the toilet seats (a small child could fall in and drown)?

Arggghhhh....

New safety laws.

The next time you acquire a new microwave, don't peal that sticker of the door and throw it away.

New law requires a safety lock to prevent children from opening the door unsupervised and burning themselves.

It took us 5 minutes to figure out how to open the door.

Let Darwin do his thing.

Ben
Our new one has it too, it's disabled!! I can guarantee any kid can get past the safety lock!! Maybe it's actually an adult lock, make you think about how badly you really want that reheated pizza!!😉🤔

You sound like my Mom when she was cat proofing her house! 😃

The stove they put in this place when the old one died had safety features on the burners. If they got up to a certain temperature, they shut off until they cooled down to whatever temperature. They wouldn’t even boil water so had to get a service guy out for a new stove- to disable the safety feature 🙄

They saw you coming 🤣🤣🤣!

I was given a new one of those, I can't figure it out, I think its missing something.
Air fryers are so weird. I got one but it wasn't what I thought it would be. I asked for a little countertop oven, that was not what I got. I rarely use it because I've burnt myself twice on it. I asked for it because I was concerned the oven would stop working. 😩

There are two styles of air fryer. The first - the one I think you have - is basically just a convection oven. It looks like a toaster over. To get things in and out of it when it's hot, you have to use pot holders. Just like a regular oven.

The other is smaller, and the food goes in a basket that you put in and out with a handle. To turn the food, you just pull the basket out, shake it, and reinsert it. Obviously this won't work it you're cooking something like a salmon fillet in it. But it works great for french fries, green beans, roasted potatoes and things like that.

I personally saw no point in buying one of the oven type. I already have a convection toaster oven. And it would have been the same thing. I think they just renamed "convection oven" to "air fryer" to sell more of the things. So I bought one of the basket type. I love it. My daughter had one of the oven type, she hated it, and never used it. I bought her a basket type and she loves it and uses it just about every single day, like I do mine.

Below is the one I have. It is one of the more expensive models on the market, but I love it. It has both top and bottom heating elements which is rare (are there any other models that even have this? I don't know.) It also has WiFi connectivity which I though would be a joke, but it has turned out to be one of it's best features. Say I'm cooking burgers ... I'll put some french fries in the air fryer before starting the burgers (but I don't turn on the air fryer yet). Then I'm cooking away on the burgers and at the appropriate time I simply say "Alexa, cook french fries" And off it goes - I created a routine that recognizes spoken "cook french fries" and it sets the correct time and temperature and mode on the air fryer and starts it up. This is so convenient to control it by voice and not having to remember how long and at what temperature to cook things. I have routines for everything. Green beans, asparagus, roasted potatoes, chicken breasts, pork chops, ...
