Night vision makes you a target. Army helmet makes you a target. Just use your site and learn flashlight shielding techniques. Night vision comes later. Start with a flashlight. Besides the green glowing lights on the front aren't a give away?
911 Tactical also sells laser pointers/locators. I purchased a year ago a Laser Genetics ND-5 Laser Locator at the 911Tactical
website. It was originally purchased to give helo's inbound to medical aids a way to quickly find the incident. I've only used it twice
with great succcess and praises from CDF captains and pilots who agreed that it was a great tool for such a thing. From the
same officials who prasied it also ended up "banning" it from volunteer fire depts, at least our dept. I thought that was crazy, to
ban something that could make a difference in a life and death situation. alot of times dispatch will mis-direct the chopper unless
volunteers have GPS and can give the pilots coords to where we are. Sometimes this does not happen and having this locator
pointed skyward the pilot can see it from miles away. So far I have verified it's visibilty at 14 miles when pointed skyward. It's
visibilty may be farther.
In recent months I have used it up in the forest to increase illumination for my 5x night vision when exploring at night. It's beam
can be adjusted from 5mm to 35mm. It has an aircraft type aluminium housing and runs on 2 CR-123 lithium batteries that last 7
hours continuous and comes in a very nice padded case. it is used by USCG in various places. I think the officials that didn't want
it used were concerned that the user was not properly qualified.
It is awesome to use in conjunction with night vision to extend the illumination at night. With the beam adjusted to 35mm you can
see very clearly 400 yards. Of course it isn't IR and when shtf you'd definately want to NOT give up your location. It still is a very
important part of my bugout pack as it is very invaluable for many situations. At $250+ it's the low end of what 911Tactical offers
on their website as far as laser optics. They have a great selection of lasers and lights.

I have been lax in an EDC light for the car.Cool, nice write up, I will check them out. I EDC the defiant pen light and use it every night.
Any flashlight you get should run on a standard battery. NO specialty batteries. AA, AAA, D, C is all you should look at. I'm not a fan of mag-light I prefer the Fenix E21.

I've used my fenix e21 in all kinds of tactical and security situations it has never failed me. I got 2 on amazon for 55.00 including shipping but that was 2 years ago. They've become much more popular now. The e21 is the perfect balance of performance and simplicity. It also mounts well to most rifles including my 10/22
right on, thanksIf you set it for its low setting you get a realistic 10 hours. On the high about 2 but when it gets close to low battery it switches to low lite. Usually after about 2 hours straight use on high.
