Knowing emergency first aid should be taught in public schools. With all the money schools get why don’t they teach some useful things? Every parent, aunt and uncle, and pretty much everyone should have some training for the emergencies and accidents that happen in life. I can’t imagine not trying to intervene when someone is hurt.
Definitely a good option to learn some of the basic knowledge
But everyone should take a skills-based course too where you practice some of the techniques and get to "play with" real equipment with guidance from someone who knows how to use it. If you are going to be able to respond in a traumatic situation it needs to be second-nature, not remembered facts.
