@sonya123 mentioned Friday the 13th in another thread. So what does it mean to you?? Unlucky day?? Lucky Day?? Don't care?? It's a lucky day for me! When I was three years old my Dad had life saving surgery after a bad work accident! They gave him six months to live, he lived 17 more years!!

I'm with Mountrain Trapper. If you hadn't mentioned it I would never have known. To answer the original question, I would be in the "Don't Care" category. I don't feel lucky or unlucky on that day.

Not to steal the thread, but isn't somebody up for the Friday Fives? I forgot about that too.

Just Another Day since She Went Up :

It used to be one more opportunity to go out, party, hook up with someone, and return to my regular lifestyle. There are some serious events/parties that happen on Friday the 13th, of course that is true for any number of make-believe special dates or wannabe holidays.

Normally it's a lucky day for me, but I've already lost a hard drive and another is pecking.
I'll let you know after I go carry in what's left of my groceries. if my sodas and juice burst, it's bad.

Not that I'm supersticious, but...

1. Internet went out earlier.
2. My beater car has a flat when I go to leave for my radiation. Drove my nice truck, made it home without being wrecked.
3. Walmart pickup was out of three items I ordered.
4. Return from the dermotology place (I have a small malignant skin cancer) they call to say my appt on Monday, set up three months ago to burn some spots, requires a new referral. So I don't know WTF is going on. But I was just there 3 hrs ago, they couldn't bring it up then?
5. Wife cut finger making my Egg McGuffin for breakfast.
6. Cardiologist calls, THEY have to reschedule a month out, for my bi-annual check, set up months ago.

Currently waiting for the next disaster, and trying to not scream at the next imbicelle from the doctor's who calls, IF they call at all.

I have to go pump up the tire. Then I'm going back to bed.

Means pretty much nothing to me. I might say "Ooh la la it's Friday the 13th" but that's it. I don't even think about it.

And I know that "Ooh la la" is a cheesy thing to say..........but when I was in Paris many decades ago, there was an old lady in the Quasimodo Cafe (next to Notre Dame) who kept saying "Ooh la la" about everything.........so when I say it, it reminds me of that experience.

It's probably something someone made up years ago and people are still following it.
All the Knights Templar facilities all over Europe were attacked, by the Catholic church, on a Friday October,13 1307. The members were arrested and killed. It was bad luck for the Knights Templar and since then it has been considered an unlucky day. If you’re a Knights Templar perhaps you can teach us about OPSEC.

I heard that they were taking money to help "road travelers" from city to city, and the Catholic Church felt that was taking money away from them. I think their heads were posted on posts on the four corners of the city or something.

My Mom was born and raised in NYC, the only (or extremely predominant) church was the Catholic church! She actually went to the Catholic Church down here for a while. So I feel like I can diss the Catholics a little 😉! They can be mean!! Mom went to the public school, it got out 45 minutes earlier than the Catholic school. The Catholic kids would throw rocks (that they collected before school) out the windows at the public school kids because they were jealous..... everyday for years!! The nuns didn't stop them!!

Our wedding date is August 13th. It was lucky for reservations for our wedding reception because no one wanted that date.

My parents were married on Friday February 13, 1943... Worked out well for them..

Friday 13, Dec. 2024... Todays high temp 13F... Bright, sunny, light n.w. breeze.. No place to go, nothing to do, so didn't do anything, didn't go anywhere... Predicted to be 35F the weekend through Monday.. Will get out Monday as I'm in need of bread, bananas, and soy sauce..

Have had 3 ...severe weather warnings... in the last 36 hours. Warning of possible freezing rain and icy conditions.. Will see if it comes to pass.. Otherwise... As long as I'm vertical, just another day to celebrate...

It’s usually a lucky day for me so I buy a lottery ticket (don’t usually do that and forgot today, oh well).
Hubby’s Christmas present I ordered that was out of stock and not guaranteed to arrive before Christmas arrived today. Also, I branch of the family tree that has had me “stumped” for years was provided to me today (see genealogy thread). A good day for me 💖

Yup. I excommunicated myself from the catholic church as soon as I got out of catholic high school and joined the Navy.
