Yea Peanut , our Sicilian donkey Rosie pulled this tree up and ran around the yard with it, every time we planted it, at least 10 or more times.
I didn't think that tree would have made it, you just never know.

We bought it at Lowe's and it was a little over a ft. tall.

Digging the offcial *******.Not a flattering picture of my beautiful Rosie either.

I went to town this morning and bought 3 new 10inch center sweeps for the cultivator. It was looooong over due. One of the old ones had hit something hard in the ground and was bent flat. It made it really annoying to plow hard ground. That one sweep tended to slide over the ground instead of dig in. The inner 7inch sweeps are only a few years old. Didn't need to change those.

Anyway I picked up 200lbs of fertilizer and some new bolts for the cultivator. I got the sweeps changed this afternoon and then laid out 9 new rows in the garden. First time in years the cultivator plowed like it was supposed to.

pics - new 10inch sweeps then old badly worn sweeps.

Here are a few pics that I hope will show up. I haven't tried to post pics in quite a while. These are all with in the past 2-3 weeks. The tomatos and peppers are from today. We planted 26 tomatos including 12 Rutgers, 2 Celbrity, 2 San Marzano, 2 German Queens, 3 Red Beefsteak, 2 Beefsteak, and and one other type that escapes my feeble mind right now. Well it came back, It in a Lemony breed. Very swet heavy bearing yellow tommy toe type.
We also put out 3 Jalpenos, 2 bannana, and 17 bell peppers in the beds, Plus a couple of Purple Coneflowers.
I dug big holes for them, since most were transplanted into 1 gallon pots. Into the holes I put some compost in the bottom of the hole, plus a egg shell, a antacid tablet, and a tomato food mix I found last year on you tube. Mixed up a gallon of that and put 2 tablespoons in each hole. Set the plants in and filled in a little over hald way with a good soil conditioner, watered well, then backfilled with the dirt from the hole and watered again. Here's some pics:

BacP ya;; did a great job too looks like we are the only ones not doing much planting this year.We were getting a beatdown by Mr.Truck.lol.

I dropped fertilizer on the 6 rows of melons and 4 rows of sweet corn. I hoed around the pitiful little beet plants. They still aren't growing, barely an inch tall. It was hot, about 85, soaked my shirt.

It's supposed to rain tomorrow, should have planted the cantaloupes. The heat just took all the energy right out of me. If the garden isn't a mud puddle tomorrow I may plant the cantaloupes after the rain.

We have to be careful now about the heat. I did the same thing making compost in the hot sun and thought I'd killed myself! Sweating terribly and out of breath too.
I have to realixe we don't know how bad off we are till we stop!Need to slow down!

The heat is bad, humidity added is even worse. After Friday night and Saturday, my legs were wobbly when I went out to do some stuff yesterday.

Be areful BacP your younger than me and in better health but it almost done me in a few days ago. Bad thing is you don't know you'v had it till its too late.Thats the wierd part about it.

I have a high 5 "wall" about 7'-7.5' tall that I planted pole beans along to create shade for our outdoor seating. I was afraid they rotted as they hadn't sprouted after nearly two weeks. So I planted some inside in pots. I now have a dozen plants along the wall and so far 14 inside. Should have plenty of beans come fall. Also, any tips on parsnips. I will replant, but none sprouted and only about 1/4 of the turnips - will reseed those as well.

Lady L I don't know anything about parsnips maybe somebody will come along and help with those.

@Terri9630 Its a wacky year. Starting out wild plants were sometimes blooming 6 weeks early. Now cultivated crops are sometimes 6 weeks late.

I now have 29 little tomatoes growing on the 33 plants I have left. I lost 7 plants out of the original 40, that why I set out 40. Some loss is to be expected.

Peppers, I forget which row is which.... Either the 36 bell pepper plants are putting on peppers or the 36 cayennes. I think it's the cayennes, too tiny to tell.

Wish now I'd planted another 5lbs of potatoes and 2 more bunches of onions... I was completely exhausted the day I bought them, couldn't think clearly.

I laid out 3 more rows, going to go ahead and plant the mosby open pollinated white corn. It's 120 day corn... It has to go in the ground now.

a few pics...

I had originally thought my tomatoes were water wilted on Sunday since we had so much rain this last week, but they recovered. By the morning and evening they bounce back so it is due to the heat already. We are running about 6 degrees higher than normal right now, This morning I went out to do some pruning and picking. Today I pulled out my dehydrator and loaded all 4 trays with diced up patty squash, freeze dryer has all three trays with patty squash, canned up 11 pints patty squash, 10 pints yellow squash, 8 pints zucchini, blanched another gallon of green beans for the freezer, halved and deseeded 7 more bell peppers for the freezer, then put about 3/4 gallon of banana peppers and 3/4 gallon of jalapenos in fridge to process probably tomorrow. I know I want to candy the jalapenos and the bananas will just get pressure canned. These are very mild and can be used in place of or along side of bell peppers when cooking and will probably can them up in half pints.

So I put all my kitchen waste from canning into a bucket so hunny can take it out to the pigs. He decided he would take the patty squash middles out to his bull. . . . I was informed Charlie thanked me and really likes squash. I bet he does.

I thought my bean 'seeds' were not germinating well so as I mentioned above planted some inside - about twice as many as I figured I'd need thinking about 1/2 would sprout. All 16 have now sprouted!
Also, peas are about 1-2" tall:)

I planted 4 rows of cantaloupes today. I didn't need that many but had a bunch of seed. I still have okra and peas to plant, running out of room. Last time I planted veggies I had 4 acres of them. Not used to planning less than an acre. I think planted to many melons.

I picked two rows of green beans theis afternoon and canned them tonight. One of my pressure canners not working so took longer. 7 quarts and 23 pints. Looked under bed to get quart jars and found 2 cases of pinto beans I canned last year. I couldn't figure out why we had used so many and planted 8 rows this year. Now I know we didn't use them all. I have 20 cases of unopened jars. I may have to open them for next 2 rows I pick which are ready. Maybe in morning......
