I finished grafting the fig tree yesterday (3 varieties on it) and put the rest of my scions in water to root. Also I cut a few scions off my peach tree and my apricot and stuck them to the old plum tree out back. We'll see what happens.
Today my youngest asked if we could plant lettuce so I gave him a seed pack of mesclun mix and he stomped it into the ground in the garden.

In other news, the indoor seedlings are growing well but I need to pick up some fertilizer. I'm seeing some stems turn purplish pretty early, and the squash and pumpkins are starting to bleach to yellow. I'm not sure why I don't have any on hand, but I'll fix that soon.

Definitely not, I let them dry to wilting point before watering. They just need fed.

Opened mailbox friday to find a skillcult package in there....black and red and the hella kitty scion now in my refrigerator...i did order a couple of things he was selling not at auction too...we shall see now how things go....the wait for rootstock to arrive is on now.

I noticed I was 2 days late starting onions.

All of my seeds were from 2022 or older but they gave been in a non- frost free freezer so I planted them in what seed starting mix I had.

Red Bull - Hybrid favorite of The Princess.
Patterson - hybrid long storage
Giant - Just for fun
Red Baron - heirloom
Creole - heirloom red

Placed order for fresh seeds and seed starting mix.

I ordered my Tromboncino squash seeds today, it's getting to be time to plant those. Hopefully I bought enough to last me a few years, I was caught a little off guard when I discovered I didn't have any left in my seed stash a couple weeks ago. I also ordered iris tectorum rose and purple heart sunflower seeds. I'm getting pretty low on the black sunflower seed and should order more, but maybe I'll wait until next year because the ones I bought last time appeared to be cross pollinated or F2 and many weren't true to color.

wow, I am 8 pages behind....

finally started my seed trays today
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Kohlrabi, Cabbage, bunching onions, collards, lettuce, cilantro, swiss chard, beets

well i went over my budget a bit...but it is what it is...i am glad to know fully where these funds go to someone i support his life mission of breeding apple varieties.....the black and red was $65 and hella kitty was $56. the black and red went as high as $137. some stuff went over $200 and last year some went over $300.

lets hope i can make the grafts correctly and not have a big cry in spring/summer....lol

if i get any other varieties through his store i will let yall know. but i have most items he has released i am interested in....i think.

if your apples work ,let me know how you did it. I have yet to plant and grow one successful fruit tree ( the ones we have were here already)

Some of the cauliflower is ready. I need to start eating it before they rot from all the rain we've had. The last time I grew cauliflower it was the white variety, and the inside of the heads got icky, but these have been okay so far! I have a few of the broccoli on tap, too. View attachment 173089

those look great!! I grew white ones last year and yes, a lot of mine got eaten by bugs too . Got pest resistant hybrids this year, we'll see
