Instead of resolutions, I set goals for myself. Do I always achieve them? Not always, but I do make progress.

Anyone else have some goals in mind for this year?

I have a couple goals for this coming year and may add more.
1. I am going to plant many more seedlings this year and with a friend of mine, we are planning on having seedling sales in the spring. Tomatoes, peppers, basil, cabbage, and more. I planted a lot of seedlings a couple years ago and gave them away to many people. My whole purpose was to practice for growing seedlings to sell. She and I will each have a weekend at our homes, and then we will do online sales on social media. She lives around 10 miles from me, so having different locations will help.

2. Continuation of restoration of the upper level of my entry way/stairway. It took me one summer to do the lower level, first floor a few years ago. It also involved lots of suffering with carpal tunnel, pilates classes, and chiropractor visits. Scraping walls is hard on the body. House was built 130 years ago with plaster walls, wallpapered several times, a layer of some finish was put on (about 1/8 inch thick), layers of paint, and then pieces falling off here and there. Back stairs need the same thing, upper level, but that is secondary to the front stairs.

3. Continuation of going through everything, deep cleaning, organization, purging, labeling, closets, drawers, cabinets. I made great progress last year, but I do have a ways to go.

4. Working on amending a couple garden beds and planting perennials (vegetables and edibles).

5. Adding to my notebook of my home and property. Adding sketches and drawings of measurements of things like garden beds, windows, rooms, infrastructure. It is an ongoing work in progress.

Buy a house / townhouse / condo in the city.

Buy some rural land / cabin / trailer / camper.

Get my life, preps, guns, etc. squared away as I feel like I have been living in a nice hotel for the last several months.

Try and reduce my awesomeness by 10-15% so other people feel better around me.

Drink more highly quality H2O.

Good luck with trying to reduce your awesomeness. I've never been successful yet.

Buying land is something that has been on my list for a long time.

I had a student whose parents had land somewhere in the mountains. They bought a large camper and parked it on their land. One time they went there for the weekend and the camper was gone.

Another story that was online was similar. A family had land in the mountains. They bought a storage shed to use for a cabin. They went to their land one time and it was gone. I do think they eventually found it, just a few miles away.

My goal is... making it to 2026.

We have to decide pdq whether to stay here or go... but go where? If we stay we need to do a major reno on the house, to make it habitable in increasing extreme weather and heat. Add solar, mini-splits, more shade, a covered car port / rv port. Wife wants a guest house / art studio. All in all about $60k+ and that's doing our own work, and the comps don't support the investment.

Meantime my first major goal is taking down the Christmas lights... before July. ;)

Have a great New Year everyone!

My building goals so far for 2025 are:
1). Finish the new shop
2). Finish fencing about 10 acres for pasture pigs
3). Rebuild the corral by the barn
4). Put in about 2 miles of additional fencing
5). Add 2 more windows in the barn
6). Build a duck pen, complete with pond
7). Build some rabbit hutches
8). Build bbq pit
9). Tree thinning, ongoing project

That's all that's on my list for now. I'm sure I'll be adding to it. It's nice to see the list getting smaller.

I have never been a goal setter. I tend to take things as they come one day at a time. It has worked out so far. Life has really thrown us some curves we have had to work around.

If I had some they would be simple; maybe lose weight and improve my golf game.

I do have a few goals! One is slowing down the summer beer drinking. That's not hard for me, just do it! I do want to get rid of clutter in the big shed. And I want to do something different with my hair!! Has to be easy!!
The best way to cut down beer drinking is to not keep it around. I'd be happy to store it for you. I've got somewhere that I'm sure will keep it from spoiling. (burp).

Not even 2025 and I am getting stuff done. I realized yesterday that I need to get rid of or replace a couch, three stuffed chairs, a dining room table, an ornately carved trunk, and an antique cabinet that I had used for shoe storage.

I do have a goal of getting myself a piano, a used Spinet. The guy who owned the twin house to mine had one and when I saw where he had put it, the idea of putting one there hasn't quit.

I agree. Once I get started sometimes, it gets to be a bigger project than I even considered. I am now considering getting rid of even more furniture.
