Well, tomorrow being Easter, and my sweetie being away "horse/farm" sitting, I will prepare an Easter Spam, with mashed potatoes and corn on the side. I will rejoice and praise the rising of Jesus. The people that don't like Spam will also, because they don't have to eat the Spam. :D

https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/S...Foods Corporation once,“Sizzle Pork And Mmmm”.

Spam is a canned meat food made by the Hormel Foods Corporation. It is made from pork shoulder meat and ham. Spam Lite, a newer kind of Spam, is made with pork and chicken.

There have been many ideas about what the word "Spam" means. The Hormel Foods Corporation once said that it means "Shoulder of Pork and Ham"[source?], but in some dictionaries "Spam" means "spiced ham". Members of staff at the SPAM museum say it stands for Specially Produced American Meat. In 2019, Spam began making advertisements containing the definition “Sizzle Pork And Mmmm”.

Spam was used a lot in World War II, as there wasn't proper meat. Because of that, spam was used as a rationed item.

Jokes about Spam
The British comedy group Monty Python created a short play about Spam in 1970. In it, a lady who does not like Spam is talking to a waitress in a restaurant when a bunch of Vikings cut their conversation by singing the word "Spam" over and over again. The lady does not like what is happening and eventually the word "Spam" became widely used to mean unwanted email messages.
There is also a song called Spam. It was sung by Weird Al Yankovic and first recorded in 1988.

I had always heard that it was the abbreviation for:

Like Velveeta, Spam is pricey these days! A lot of the older folks I know won't buy either because they were 'give away' foods way back!!
I ate a lot of Velveeta when I was single. $1.77 is stuck in my head for the price of a 2-lb bar.
Their non-resealable foil wrapper guaranteed that you would eat it every day or 2, or the end of the bar would dry out. :(
(oh yeah, I ate a lot of SPAM too:D).

Somewhere on the forum where Spam has been mentioned I posted a link to a youtube by a guy called ...The Wolfe Pit... who has a recipe for making ..homemade.. Spam.. I do like most, not all, but most varieties of Hormel Spam and a number of store brand varieties..

I participated in making and canning homemade Spam with the Wolfe Pit recipe and it was a good tasting success.. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Spam and has good preserving skills..

The Monty Python skit is funny, but being British humor hard to follow..
