I am proud to be American. I live in one of the three countries where you can burn a flag, stomp on it, and deface it without breaking the law.
The flag is a mere representation of our great republic. The republic will continue to be strong BECAUSE we allow people to voice their dissent in any way that does not inflict damage to another.
Because it represents our great republic I treat the flag with respect while knowing that others do not. I respect their right to voice their opinion because THAT IS the USA.

God bless the USA! I pray that those others come to realize that they would be arrested in other places for speaking out against the country and defacing the flag. God bless them too, they need it more than I.

Spot on and I agree. I just hope I never personally see someone torch our flag, I am truly not sure how I would react. I'd like to think my mind along with common sense would override the urge to, well you know......................

I am so depressed this July 4th. For the past many years, I have escorted WW2, Korea, and VN vets through parades. Most years I will honor these vets in parades in two different cities on July 4th and often ones on the evening on July 3. I have included some photos from previous years July 4 parades. Sorry about my pity party.

Just so it's noted" I don't care if you're black, white,yellow purple with neon green polka dots, male or female.
We all served our great nation in times of trouble, internally or externally.
