Tomorrow here (6th Jan), is Little Christmas, a day for taking down decorations and is also whats traditionally known as Women's Christmas.
A day when all the Moms got to put their feet up and had others do the cooking. To be fair, I don't remember it much as a child, but it does seem to be revived in recent years when it falls on a weekend. Really I think it was a case of before the children went back to school, everyone had run out of money, there was little food, and it was a 'do what you want' kind of vibe.
Whatever it was, 'Nollaig na mBan shona daoibh' to all the ladies here!
(Nollaig=Christmas, Ban=women, shona=happy)
