We get that over here all the time, But when something small happens like the power is out or water line breaks, who are the prepared ones ? That would be us !! prep on UK

lol we having flash floods at the moment parts of the country are getting a months worth of rain in 4hrs but they just dont learn and you see them on the news crying coz there belongins are ruined from the mud and rain yet they do nothing about it when it isnt raining when will people learn?

Earthquakes here, well small ones. I am in southern California so thats what I prep for, No power, water, maybe some looters.

You said a mouthfull right there, brother. thats about the just of it.

"Yet they do nothing about it when it isnt raining when will people learn?" kevin tordoff 2012

Can I have permission to use that one?

ye go for it i just think that these people who live in flood areas should prepare when it doesnt rain

thank god we dont have earthquakes i cant imagine how terrible that could be when you see peoples homes flattened stay frosty people!

Oh yea brother I agree,
I like the word raining as a medifor, for any bad situation that can befall us as humans, that put us in circumstances that most are unprepared for.
It isnt "raining" when we all have good jobs, but they dont save some supplies just incase they are jobless for awhile.
It isnt "raining" for those that live in quake zones, when the faults are dormant.
It isnt "raining" for those in US that still thinks China owns all of our debt.

What you said incompasses so much more than literall rain.
It is in fact why we are all here, no matter what we are preparing for.
And it is complete in its simplicity.
Most people do nothing, because they think nothing will ever happen.

I used to live in Hull, which has not yet disappeared under water but the way it's going, soon will be.
York has had it bad this year, Hull did have some badly hit areas last time the rain was heavy, an area of Bransholme had it bad but that was due to the houses being built on a flood plane - Doh!
And the guy who drowned in Hessle (which was just round the corner from us).

im from easingwold not near any rivers so i kinda ok at the moment have u decided to start prepping after seeing it on nat geo?

I wouldn’t know where to begin really as there are too many scenarios to comprehend. And our finances are limited.
If things were different, I would make use of my military knowledge and would literally build a fortress with an underground area also include lots of external ****y traps and defensive positions.

ye thats the situation we have limited finances we are starting small and start buying canned food in bulk and in march we will start grownig our own fruit and vegetables

We were growing tomatoes - until our grandson decided to kill them with some weed killer after being told off

You are never the only one. There are plenty more. You just don't know of any.
Pointless? Never pointless to prepare. Overconfidance can get you in trouble.

Better to be prepared for nothing, then be unprepared for something.

Hey. Im English but Living in Poland now. I though I was the only person in Europe prepping. There is much more options over on the contenant rather than on the Island. Especially the weapons available. here in Poland tazers, CS and pepper spray and rubber bullet firing guns and high powered air riflles are all legit and fairly cheap. Im moving to Czech soon after a recent scout there. They have plenty of large forest with lots of game. Weapons are same rules there and Czech is not on any list of countries to be bombed in the near future. Please let me know if you hear of any European preppers.

I'm living in Derby, better than in Hull if there's a mega-flood lol. I know were safe for at least 60m.
Where are you now, still in Hull?
I used to go to Sir Leo Schultz , but only for a year then we moved just round the corner to Hull Grammar School on Bishop Alcock Road. It's completely gone now, as is Schultz :( memories.
We lived for ages on Cottingham Road while my dad worked at the Uni.
Glad to find someone else from Hull.
I've been trying to trace old school mates but have only managed to contact 3 and one of them hardly speaks.

Admin : Sorry for going off-topic.

I believe that's why UK is screwed when TSHTF, our hands are tied due to all the restrictions in place by the Government... THEM AGAIN

Haha yeah, I was at Perronete Thompson then went to Sir Henry Cooper on orchard. I havent been in Hull for over 9 years now. I was working in London, then Poland, then Ireland and started my own business there and now I live in Poland again and Planning to move to Czech. I had half a year in thailand and half a year in Brazil also in that time.

I have a daughter in Buxton in Derbyshire. It is deffo the best place in the UK for a prepper. I wouldnt like to be in the UK at all though if SHTF. The only advantage of me been in the UK is I would have 100% on the language and culture. Otherwise its been classed as number 3 on the top 5 worse places to be when SHTF.

Im still fairly new to prepping though. I started last winter by doing wild survival camping and gradually went with less and less equipment. I think the final move I will make is move to Canada when I can afford it. So long as its not too late ;) But with Obumer winning his re election ive kinda stepped it up a notch in my prepping and training.

Anyway, its nice meeting up with a fellow Hull man :)

Where’s Perronete Thompson, I’ve never heard of it? I know Cooper, the huge field between Schultz & Cooper, many school fights were held on that lol. I guess, sadly that Cooper won as Schultz has gone now lol

Perronet Thompson is on Bransholme. On noddle hill. I think they change the name now but Im not sure what to. But yeah, you are showing your age if you went to Schultz ;)

I dont remember what the video was. This was places in USA and Europe. California was number 1 , New York 2, UK 3 and I dont remember the other 2. . I trail through hundreds of videos of useless facts and "objective facts" :) Im just looking for some English speaking survival courses to go on but in eastern Europe but not having much luck. I need to find about finding food in this climate. especiall in winter. Like now its minus 10 and blizards. I have all Arctic clothing and that kinda thing but if I had to bug out in this I wouldnt know where to start apart from what I could shoot like birds and stuff. If you know of any courses please let me know . Ive pretty much hit a limit of learning myself.

Likewise :)

For survival in Arctic and/or winter climates you could try finding anything covering Royal Marine Arctic Warfare Survival and anything covering SAS Survival.

When did Schultz get demolished?
